A Plague Tale Requiem Chapter 2 Newcomers starts with Amicia, Hugo, Beatrice, and Lucas on the outskirts of the red city, looking for Vaudin, Magister of the Order, whom Beatrice wishes to consult about Hugo’s sickness.
But, before you meet Vaudin, Magister of the Order, you will have to go through many puzzles and challenges along the way.
Also, during Chapter 2, Newcomers, you will be able to find two Souvenirs and a flower for Hugo’s collection.

Chapter 2 Newcomers features 7 Sub-Chapters that you can replay in the Chapter Selection Menu after you complete the chapter, in case you missed any collectibles in your first playthrough.

1. Arrival In The Town
Hugo, Amicia, Lucas, and Beatrice are now on the outskirts of the red city, granting them protection thanks to the Count of Provence, a very powerful lord.
Magister Vaudin, an important character in the mystery behind Hugo’s sickness, also lives in this city, and your final goal is to find him.
Souvenir #1: Best Player (Walk To The House)
While holding Hugo’s hand, walk straight up the street from the city gate until you reach the market, where Amicia says The house with the weather vane, that’s ours!
Enter the market square, and take the path to her right after you speak with the woman in the blue dress offering you hairstyling products. Then, speak with the woman selling flowers on the right outside the tent.
After Hugo finishes his conversation with the woman, continue to the left, then after a couple of steps, take the path to the right to speak with a man offering a pot-throwing minigame.
To complete the minigame, throw pots at the bottom of the stacked paper cubes to make them collapse.
The man will announce that you were the best player of the day, and you will receive the Chapter 2 Newcomers Souvenir #1 – Best player in A Plague Tale Requiem.
After you complete the minigame and receive the Souvenir, turn around and follow the path up the small hill until you reach a small theater play.
Hugo will want to watch the show, and you will have to put him on Amicia’s shoulders by pressing the interaction button.
After watching the show for a bit, proceed up the stairs and follow the path until you meet Lucas near a balcony, then enter the house with him.
2. Chapter 2 Newcomers To The Arena
Hugo takes a nap at home but has another nightmare, which appears to have awoken the Macula. Amicia and Lucas must track down Magister Vaudin, who can help with Hugo’s sickness.
Once outside the house, follow Lucas down the town hill until he asks a soldier about Vaudin’s location. He will point you in the direction of a florist in the marketplace.
Where To Find The Florist
Proceed down the road to the marketplace and speak with the florist you met previously with Hugo.
How To Find The Florist’s Husband
To track down the florist’s husband, keep following the path outside the market’s tent.
The husband is dressed in a brown tunic and can be spotted raking leaves on the ground near one of the marketplace’s downhill entrances.
Reach The Arena
Continue down the hill next to the florist’s husband until you reach the arena gates that the soldiers block. Lucas will suggest finding another way to get inside.
How To Find A Way Inside The Arena
Keep going through the stables and up the stairs to locate a door you can break through.
3. Chapter 2 Arcades
When Amicia and Lucas enter the arena, they discover that the Bite is spreading due to Hugo’s presence. It’s time to resume our search for Magister Vaudin.
Keep following the path ahead until you find another door with the Order’s symbol engraved above.
4. Chapter 2 Newcomers Confrontation In The Stands
After you open the door, you will need to complete an easy puzzle to progress further.
Souvenir #2: Be At Peace (Follow The Order’s Symbols)
Take the cart from the nearby room with Lucas, pull it back, and then push it towards the ledge at the end of the area.
After you’ve parked the cart, you can climb on top and pull yourself up the ledge. Then, proceed forward until you can crawl beneath some barrels and bags.
A helmeted enemy will appear, but Amicia’s sling is worthless against helmeted foes, so you must sneak behind his back.
While crouched, exit the room through the door on the left and drop down in the patch of grass on the right.
Grab the pot near the wooden fence and throw a rock at the tool crate to distract the nearby guard.
While he’s distracted, sneak behind his back, enter the room on the left, and pick up the pot on the nearby table.
From the table, make your way across to the opposite side, ensuring no guards are in sight until you spot some steps on your right.
However, there is a guard here that you need to distract, so throw a rock at the toolbox near him (or you can use a pot).
After the guard turns around, go up the stairs, open the door and vault the window. You’ll find yourself surrounded by a lot of dead bodies.
As you continue forward, you will find a half-cart on your way and a container with dead bodies hanging above it.
Cast a rock with your sling at the ring holding the container to break it.
Once you break it, the crate will land on the set of wheels below, allowing it to be moved around.
Now, push the cart toward the opening in the wall that Lucas mentioned earlier when you first entered the area.
Climb the ledge and continue until you can get a knife that they used to count the dead people, and then open a door leading to the arena.
After you enter the arena, climb down and quickly hide behind a wall as new enemies appear.
To escape, you can either take a stealth approach or kill the unarmored enemies with your sling and stun the others.
We decided to take a stealth approach to escape the area, and the path on the left was the easiest.
As you probably already noticed after entering the area, an archer is at the top of a platform scouting the area and looking back and forth.
Also, there is another unarmored mercenary that is also patrolling the ground floor area.
Wait for both of them to turn around to avoid being spotted and climb the broken stairs on your left.
In the next area, a helmeted enemy is patrolling the place back and forth.
Wait for him to reach and check the table on the opposite side of the room, then drop down and crawl under the table marked in the image below.
After he finishes inspecting the table, he will turn around and check the other side of the room, giving you a chance to crawl out and climb up the stairs ahead while crouching. Also, pick up the pot along the way if you are not already full.
At the top of the stairs, keep going forward and hide behind the rock wall on the right, just before the room ahead.
Throw a pot behind the helmeted enemy only when the archer turns around.
While the helmeted mercenary is distracted and the archer is looking away, quickly enter the room, vault the wooden window and open the door on the left to leave the area.
After escaping through the door, the game wants you to open the Skills Menu and check the three types of skills available.
Now, once you check the Skills Menu, continue until you see a set of stairs on the right.
Then, go to the right again until you see a dying woman lying on the ground.
Interact with her to receive the Chapter 2 Newcomers Souvenir #2 – Be at peace in A Plague Tale Requiem.
After you collect the Souvenir, take the other set of stairs and open the door at the top.
5. Chapter 2 Underground
Now, you will have to reach the south tower on the other side of the Order’s compound.
Climb the scaffoldings to trigger a new cutscene showing the wooden structures collapsing under Amicia and Lucas’ feet and dropping into the underground.
How To Reach The South Tower
Lucas and Amicia will find themselves in a pit of dead bodies, and then swarms of rats devour a bystander and start chasing them.
Immediately after the cutscene ends, press the sprint button and run toward the camera until Lucas closes the door behind you.
Exit The Arena’s Underground Areas
After Lucas shuts the door behind you, pick up the torch from the wall to your right and move around with it, making a path through the rats.
You’ll eventually come upon a brazier that you can ignite using the torch.
Keep going through the rats until you notice a hole in the wall that you and Lucas can climb up.
Place the torch on the stand nearby to be able to climb up and keep the area lit.
Grab a stick in the new area, light it at the fire source on the wall, and proceed to the nearby brazier to ignite it as well.
Keep in mind that sticks only last a few seconds; therefore, you must move quickly from one fire source to the next, or you will die.
Now, grab another stick from the nearby sticks pile, light it at the brazier and walk toward the second brazier in a straight line to light it up.
Look above and to the right from the second brazier to discover a third brazier that can be dropped down with your sling.
Then, grab a stick and ignite it, but this time throw the blazing stick at the brazier to set it on fire, and then climb the nearby ladder.
Keep following the path and cross the wooden beam, which will collapse as Lucas tries to cross it.
Grab a stick and ignite it to make your way through the rats and fire the next brazier.
Light up a new stick and throw it at the brazier on the other side of the room to ignite it for Lucas so he can join you.
Now grab a new stick but don’t ignite it, and throw it over to Lucas. He will light it himself and come back to you.
With Lucas back on your side, climb up the ladder and open the nearby door.
Then, climb down the stairs and follow the path until you reach a room with an elevator and a brazier in the middle.
How To Lower The Central Platform Chapter 2
Get to the crank upstairs and spin it to lower the platform.
But we don’t have anything to light it up, so we’ll have to gather the required materials to craft the ignifer. Luckily, interacting with the crank has revealed two alcoves with the items you need.
Explore The Alcoves
Facing the crank and the elevator, we will explore the right alcove first.
Where To Find Alcohol
After you enter the alcove, walk along the right wall on the narrow wooden beam.
Then, throw a rock at the ring holding the two white pieces of meat in the room to distract the rats, allowing you to drop down and climb the ladder to the chest, where you’ll find Alcohol.
How To Get Sulphur
Enter the opposite alcove, climb up the ladder and interact with the crank, then command Lucas to activate it for you so you can walk across.
Grab the cart, push it into the elevator, and once you’re near Lucas, command him to let go of the crank.
Push the cart near the white-painted wooden beams to climb to the top and collect four sulfur from the chest.
Regroup With Lucas
After picking up both Alcohol and Sulphur materials, it’s time to regroup with Lucas and craft Ignifer.
How To Craft Ignifer
To craft Ignifer, open the Selection Menu by pressing (R1) / (RB) / TAB, press the Directional Right / E, and hold (X) / (A) / Left Click to complete the process.
For each Alcohol and Sulphur used, you will receive two Ignifer shots, up to a maximum limit of six to carry.
Light Up The Central Brazier
Light up the central brazier using the sling with Ignifer and scare away all the rats downstairs.
6. Chapter 2 Newcomers Ignifer
However, this is insufficient since we still need to lower the platform a little further to access it.
How To Lower The Central Platform
Facing the crank upstairs, we will explore the left opening. Use the Ignifer to light up the nearby brazier and the torch on the wall.
Now, to pass through the remaining rats, we will need to combine the effect of the Ignifer with a pot.
Open the Selection Menu by pressing (R1) / (RB) / TAB, select the pot and switch to the Ignifer by pressing Directional Right / E.
Aim and throw the ignited pot in the middle of the room where the light from the brazier and torch can’t reach it so that you can cross safely.
Remember that the effect will last a couple of seconds, so sprint to the torch.
Now, throw a rock at the ring holding the white meat to distract the rats, allowing you to safely climb the stairs and interact with the crank.
However, the crank is too heavy; therefore, you must interact with a second one to lower the elevator.
While Lucas manages the one you just discovered, you must find and interact with the second one.
Drop down, proceed to the second opening and ignite the brazier using the Ignifer.
Open the chests and collect all the materials around to craft more Ignifer if you need it.
Now, look above and right for a second brazier to shoot down using your sling and ignite.
Then, midway between where you are and the ladder, throw an ignited pot to reach and climb it safely.
Finally, use the crank to lower the entire platform.
Exit The Arena’s Underground Areas
After activating the crank and lowering the platform, quickly run to the elevator and stay on it. Wait for the elevator to take you up and exit the arena underground.
Hugo’s Herbarium Collectible #1: Arrowhead (Reach The South Tower)
Keep going on the linear path until you reach a small abandoned vegetable garden. Here you will find Chapter 2 Hugo’s Herbarium #1 Collectible – Arrowhead in A Plage Tale Requiem.
Then, open the two nearby chests for materials, one on the right after climbing down the stairs, and the other, after you climb the ladder and cross the bridge.
After opening the chests, you can squeeze through the gap at the far end of the area.
7. Chapter 2 Gladiators
You will reach a large open area with several patches of grass.
Keep going through the patches of grass until you hear mercenaries talking, and the LOOK prompt appears on the screen.
While they are still talking, sneak inside the house before you and collect the pot off the shelf (if you are not full already).
Then, exit the house through the right door, climb the large crate to the top, and sneak back inside the house on the upper floor.
On the balcony is an archer patrolling that you can sneak behind his back and strike him to put him down without alerting the other mercenaries.
Pick up the sulphur that he dropped and open the chest inside the house for more materials.
From the balcony, wait for the patrolling mercenary to enter the nearby house, then drop down below and strike his head using your sling from the window to kill him.
Killing him inside the house won’t alert the other enemies, and they won’t find his dead body to start looking for you.
Now, vault the window and go straight ahead, just before the doorstep opposite the window, but don’t leave the building just yet.
Immediately after going through the door, run straight to the stairs on the right and climb them before the swarms of rats start to devour everything in their way.
At the top of the stairs, get close to the door ahead, peak on the right, and kill the archer guarding the area using your sling to progress further.
Go through the door, collect the Alcohol dropped by the archer, drop down below, and hide from the mercenaries’ sight.
Right in front of you, you will see the door flanked by two braziers you need to reach to escape the area.
Light up the brazier on the right using your sling, then throw an ignited pot on the rats to scare them off and safely reach the door.
Immediately after you throw the ignited pot, run toward the door and quickly press the interact button to open it and avoid being killed by the rats.
After going through the door, keep going forward until you see the iron bells with symbols on them to trigger the next objective.
How To Put The Symbols In The Right Order
To the left and right of the hanging Order’s Symbol are four iron bells you can interact with.
You will have to throw a rock at either side of each iron bell to reveal the correct symbol and complete the puzzle. Also, Lucas will aid you in finding the correct symbol for each bell.

Where To Find Magister Vaudin
After opening the door, climb up the stairs to trigger the final cutscene. You will find Vaudin studying in his room, who will reluctantly agree to visit Hugo.
And that’s how you complete A Plague Tale Requiem Chapter 2 Newcomers and unlock Chapter 3, titled A Burden of Blood.
