Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Kyononis Shrine is one of the early shrines you’ll encounter while exploring the Central Hyrule region of the Kingdom of Hyrule.
Kyononis Shrine features a Combat Training challenge during which you’ll have to learn and perform the following moves: Side Hop, Backflip, Perfect Guard, and Charged Attack.
Performing some of these moves can be challenging and require precise timing, but don’t worry; we are here to help!
In the following Legend of Zelda ToTK Shrine guide, we will explain step-by-step how to perform every move to complete the Kyononis Shrine and get your reward.
Where To Find The Tears Of The Kingdom Kyononis Shrine
Kyononis Shrine is located in the Hyrule Castle Town Ruins of the Kingdom of Hyrule, directly north of the Lookout Landing.
You can easily reach this location from the Lookout Landing on foot.
In front of the Kyononis Shrine, you can speak with Mylle, who will tell you more about the Shrines and Chasms around the Kingdom of Hyrule.
Now let’s see how to complete the Kyononis Shrine in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom.
How To Complete The Legend Of Zelda Kyononis Shrine Puzzle
The objective of the Kyononis Shrine is to help you develop your combat skills and prepare you for the challenges that lie ahead in the Kingdom of Hyrule.
After you enter the Kyononis Shrine, you’ll see a Construct Soldier wielding a Rusty Broadsword and a Construct Bow.
Because this is a Combat Training Shrine, the soldier will keep swinging his sword in front of him until you perform the given tasks.
Also, if you don’t have a sword and a shield, you can pick them both from the rack on the left.
For the first part of the Kyononis Shrine, you’ll have to learn and perform a Side Hop. This move lets you avoid enemy attacks by hopping sideways and using the opening created to strike back.
To do so, hold (ZL) to target the enemy and get in front of the Construct Soldier.
When his sword is above his head, and he’s about to swing vertically, strafe left or right and press (X) to hop out of the way.
While in the air, you can press (Y) to perform a Flurry rush, which will count as a perfect dodge.
For the second part of the Kyononis Shrine, you’ll have to learn and perform a Backflip.
With this move, you avoid the enemy attacks by flipping backward, creating an opening to strike back, similar to the Side Hop.
As before, hold (ZL) to target the enemy, ready your shield, and position yourself in front of the Construct Soldier.
When he is about to swing horizontally, backpedal and press (X) to jump.
Doing so, you’ll perform a Backflip and create an opening to strike back with a Flurry rush by pressing (Y).
You’ll have to perform a Perfect Guard for the next part of the Kyononis Shrine.
If you parry with your shield at the right time, you can repel the enemy attack and create an opening to strike back.
Ready your shield by holding (ZL) and position yourself before the Construct Soldier.
Immediately after he starts swinging his sword horizontally to hit you, press (A) to parry and stun him for a second, allowing you to swing back your sword.
For the final part of the Kyononis Shrine, you’ll have to perform a Charged Attack, which is a powerful attack that uses stamina.
To perform a Charged Attack, press and hold (Y) on your controller and release it whenever you feel like it. The longer you charge the attack, the more powerful it gets.
You’ll perform different Charged Attacks depending on the type of weapon you have equipped.
After you destroy the Construct Soldier with the Charged Attack, the gate to the statue room will open.
Open the treasure chest inside to receive a Zonaite Sword, then interact with the green sigil to complete the Kyononis Shrine and receive a Light of Blessing as a reward.
