NieR Replicant Lizard Tails and Mouse Tails are ingredients you have to find for a Village’s Shopping District quest named The Ballad of the Twins while playing the first part of the video game published by Square Enix.
NieR Replicant Ballad Of The Twins is, therefore, a Part One side-quest, and unlike A Dog Astray, for example, is a bit longer even though this fetch quest doesn’t involve too much fighting.
As usual, first, let’s see how to start Ballad Of The Twins, and then I’ll tell you where to find five Mouse Tails and five Lizard Tails in NieR Replicant because you need them to prepare a special drink for Popola.
NieR Replicant The Ballad Of The Twins Quest Details
The Ballad Of The Twins is a quest that involves a lot of walking and less fighting.
You can start it the moment you get back from Seafront the first time, and this means that you have to advance through the game’s story until you learn how to fish.
This activity is unlocked simply by following the plot, and eventually, you’ll end up with a Shaman Fish. Next, you’ll have to bring the fish back to your Village.
If you stop by the Tavern on your way back, you’ll find a villager with an unusual request. His wish is to see Popola and Devola sing together.
So the first step here is to pay a visit to the Tavern in your Shopping District. Which happens to be behind the door in my picture below.
Good, so talk to the gentleman by the bar, accept the quest and then talk to Devola nearby.
She’ll tell you that she will sing with Popola if you manage to convince her.
This means that you’ll now have to pay a visit to Popola in the Library. When you talk to her, she tells you that she agrees to sing, but she’s shy and needs a special drink that only the Tavern Keeper in Seafront can brew.
As you can guess, your next step is to head back to Seafront; thus, head towards the Southern Plains, cross the area and when you reach the city, look for the last building on the left side of the alley in the Shopping District.
The one you see in my image.
Obviously, inside, you’ll have to talk to the Tavern Keeper, and the lady with a male voice tells you that he/she agrees to make the drink for you if you bring back five Mouse Tails and five Lizards Tails.
You can only imagine what type of drink Popola likes, but, well, a quest is a quest, and you are here to complete it. Which means that you need to find the ingredients.
Where To Find Five Mouse Tails
First, let’s go after the Mouse Tails because they are a bit harder to get.
The NieR Replicant Mouse Tails for The Ballad Of The Twins can be found in Junk Heap. This implies that you’ll have to go back to the Southern Plains, then back to your Village, and then enter the Northern Plains.
From there, you have to use the ladders on the left side of the broken bridge to reach the top and enter the Junk Heap area in the north.
Immediately after you open the gate, start looking for mice. Usually, there are two of them roaming in the courtyard of this area.
They are quite small, so you’ll have to move fast and catch them by pressing O (on PlayStation) when the arrow above them turns yellow.
You can see one of them below.
For each mouse you catch, you’ll get a Mouse Tail, so you have to get 5. If you run out of rodents, exit the area through the gate you used to get inside, then head back.
The little critters respawn, so you can do this as much as you want. That’s how you get Mouse Tails in NieR Replicant Remaster.
Now, let’s go after the Lizard Tails.
How To Get Five Lizard Tails
For the NieR Replicant Lizards Tails, you will have to head back to the Northern Plains, then travel back to your Village area.
Yeah, it’s a long walk, and it’s not over yet. When you get to your Village, head east and enter Eastern Road.
This is your hunting ground for the NieR Replicant Lizard Tails, and you’ll have to catch these as well.
Remain in the Eastern Road area because there are at least three Lizards spawning here. You can see one below.
As you can imagine, when you run out of Lizards, you can exit the area towards Northern Plains and then return, so the Lizards can respawn. Catch five of them, and you’ll get five tails.
Good then; so now that you know how to get the five Lizard Tails and five Mouse Tails in NieR Replicant, it’s time to go back to the Tavern in Seafront.
Again you’ll have to cross your Village’s area, then head to the Southern Plains, and then check the white house pictured above.
After you talk to the Tavern Keeper, he/she won’t give you the brew because, well, it’s not ready, but the NPC will send it to the Tavern in your Village.
Unfortunately, though, he/she won’t announce Popola, which means that it’s time to start running AGAIN and stop only when you reach the Library.
Talk to Popola and tell her the drink (or whatever that is) is waiting for her at the tavern.
You’ll be instantly teleported (thank God) to the local tavern, and you can hear Devola and a tipsy Popola singing.
To complete the quest, all you have to do is to talk to Devola, and when she asks you if you want them to stop singing, pick Yes. Or just enjoy the song.
For completing the NieR Replicant Remaster Ballad Of The Twins quest, you won’t receive any rewards, but the song Devola and Popola sing together is quite nice.
