The NieR Replicant Blowfish is another fish type and also a quest item required to complete The Fisherman’s Gambit Part 2 side quest featured in Part One of the video game published by Square Enix.
NieR Replicant Fisherman’s Gambit Part 2 is the second part of the questline that will help you become a better fisherman, and it follows the same structure as Fisherman’s Gambit, but instead of Sardines, you’ll need to catch Blowfish.
In other words, to improve your NieR Replicant fishing skill, you’ll have to complete all quests in The Fisherman’s Gambit chain of side quests, and your second goal is to land 7 Blowfish.
As explained, fishing in NieR Replicant 2021 is easy, but you need to know the best fishing spot and the type of lure or bait you’ll have to use to catch a specific type of fish.
Therefore, below we will talk about the Blowfish in NieR Replicant because they represent your objective for The Fisherman’s Gambit Part 2 side quest.
NieR Replicant Fisherman’s Gambit Part 2 Quest Details
NieR Replicant Fisherman’s Gambit Part 2 is a side quest that becomes available in Seafront, and it’s best approached after you complete the previous part, after you save the Prince of Facade.
The quest giver is the same old man by the dock, as you can see in my picture below.
Make sure you talk to him immediately after the previous quest, and he’ll ask you to catch some Blowfish. Specifically 7 of them.
Again, as a reward for your service, he will provide another lesson and share another fishing secret. Or at least that’s what he claims.
Best Blowfish Bait
The first step once you start the quest is to get some bait because, just like the Sardines, the Blowfish in NieR Replicant doesn’t love normal lures.
Therefore, head north on the main street and find the Tackle Shop.
Using the minimap, find the Tackle Shopkeeper’s location, which is marked by the small icon depicting a fishing rod. Or simply find the guy in my image.
From the Tackle Shop, buy Lugworms, just like you did when you went after the Sardines.
Good, so now that we got the best bait for Blowfish, let’s go fishing.
Remaster Blowfish Location
In Seafront, the best place to fish Blowfish is the pier where the quest giver is located.
The trick here is that instead of fishing from the pier, which is totally fine, you have better chances to land Blowfish if you fish from the beach on the right side.
Just as you see in my screenshot below.
How To Fish
As you probably know by now, catching fish in NieR Replicant is easy:
- While standing near the fishing spot, press O on your PlayStation controller
- Select the type of bait. For Blowfish, you will want to use Lugworms
- Once you cast your line, wait for the fish to bite, then press O again
- Move your left thumbstick in the direction opposite the fish’s current position to deplete its health bar (blue)
- When the health bar is fully depleted you’ll land the fish
Keep in mind, though, that, unlike Sardines, Blowfish is harder to catch, so be patient. It will take around 15 minutes to land 7 Blowfish, depending on your luck.
Once you do that, return to the quest giver, and in return, you won’t get any rewards, but you will do some training and unlock the next quest in line. This time you’ll need to catch 7 Rainbow Trout.
