NieR Replicant Fisherman’s Gambit: How To Get Sardines

The NieR Replicant Sardines, besides the fact that they are delicious, are also required to complete The Fisherman’s Gambit side quest while playing Part One of the video game published by Square Enix.

NieR Replicant Fisherman’s Gambit is the first part of a very long questline that will help you become a better fisherman.

This means that to improve your NieR Replicant fishing skill, you’ll have to complete all quests in The Fisherman’s Gambit chain of side quests, and your first goal is to catch Sardines.

The idea behind the fishing activity in NieR Replicant 2021 is quite easy, but there are two key aspects you have to know. The first one is the best fishing spot, and the second one is the type of lure or bait you’ll have to use to catch a specific type of fish.

So, below we will talk about the Sardines in NieR Replicant; because they represent your objective for The Fisherman’s Gambit side quest.

NieR Replicant Fisherman’s Gambit Quest Details

NieR Replicant Fisherman’s Gambit is a side quest that becomes available in Seafront, and it’s best approached after you rescue the Prince of Facade.

That’s because, at this point, you’ll be able to access all fishing quests in Part One, and you’ll want to complete all of them for obvious reasons.

The quest giver is the old man by the dock, a known character who helped you catch the Shaman Fish.

Make sure you talk to him, and he’ll ask you to catch sardines. Ten of them.

In exchange for your service, he tells you that he will help you become a better fisherman.

Best Sardines Bait

The first thing you’ll want to do next is to get some bait because, you see, the sardines in NieR Replicant don’t like normal lures.

From your current location, you’ll want to head north on the main street and find the Tackle Shop.

On your Seafront Map, the Tackle Shopkeeper’s location is marked by a small icon depicting a fishing rod. You can see the vendor below.

From the Tackle Shop, buy Lugworms, and make sure you buy more than 10 because you can lose your bait, and in this case, you’ll have to get back to the merchant.

Not to mention that you’ll need Lugworms when fishing for other species as well.

Good, so we got the bait for the Sardines, so it’s time to go fishing.

Remaster Sardines Locations

In Seafront, there are two locations where you can catch Sardines. The first one is the pier where the quest giver is located.

The second one, which yields better results, is the beach near the lighthouse. It is the same area where you caught the Shaman Fish.

And that’s the fishing location you can see in my image below.

Head to the beach and get ready.

How To Fish

Catching fish in NieR Replicant is quite easy. Here is what you have to do:

• While standing near the fishing spot, press O on your PlayStation controller
• Select the type of bait. For Sardines, you will want to use Lugworms
• Once you cast your line, wait for the fish to bite your bait, then press O again
• Move your left thumbstick in the direction opposite the fish’s current position to deplete its health bar (blue)
• When the health bar is fully depleted you’ll land the fish

Now, back to our quest, all you have to do is to land ten Sardines.

Once you do that, return to the quest giver, and in return, you won’t get any rewards, but you will do some training, and the Sardines will become available at the Tackle Shop. The next quest in line also becomes available, and you’ll need to catch 7 Blowfish.

Last but not least, make sure you don’t sell the Sardines you have in your inventory because you’ll need them to fish Sharks for the Bon Appetit quest.
