Accompanying the 27 PSI Challenge Cards we already covered, while looking for Raz’s Family, you’ll also need to find all seven Psychonauts 2 Questionable Area PSI Challenge Markers. The Questionable Area Markers are far more difficult than those from the Motherlobe Quarry, but you’ll need them if you want to help Raz reach Rank 100.
Since there are 7 PSI Challenge Markers in the Questionable Area, it means that you’ll level up Raz seven times simply by finding these collectibles. So, let’s see where they are.
Before moving on with the actual locations, as usual, here’s a quick reminder that you don’t need to progress through the game’s story to get all the markers below. That’s because they do not require special badges or equipment besides the Thought Tuner obtained from Otto in the Quarry.
PSI Challenge Marker #1
Map Location: F (Forgetful Forest)
While standing inside the central area, look at the campfire sign above the large tree log leading to Forgetful Forest. Pull out your Thought Tuner and scan the area to reveal several nodes. Follow them using the Mental Connection, and they’ll lead you to the first Questionable Area PSI Challenge Marker. It is close to the lake, on a wooden platform.
PSI Challenge Marker #2
Map Location: B (Fierro’s Funicular)
For the next Challenge Marker, you have to repair Fierro’s Funicular. To do so, you’ll need three cogs.
- The first one is in front of the Funicular
- The second one is by a large rock and a bench also in front of the Funicular
- The last one sits by the ramp leading up the mountain (left side while facing the ramp)
Use Raz’s Telekinesis to get the cogs and place them on the Funicular’s pins to get the train moving up the mountain. The moment you reach the top, climb the Questionable Gifts Shop (or what’s left of it) to get the Marker on the roof.
PSI Challenge Marker #3
Map Location: C (Cave of the Sassclops)
One of the Psychonauts 2 Questionable Area Markers can be found in the Cave of the Sassclops. When you enter, swing on the skeleton bones, and you will see a large poster. Burn it down to reveal a secret area (pictured). Use the stone platforms on the left to reach the rope and then the collectible.
PSI Challenge Marker #4
Map Location: E (Lumberstack Diner)
Another Questionable Area Challenge Marker requires additional steps to be completed. As such, first, meet Raz’s family. Then, you’ll need to go back to the Lumberstack Diner and find Dion. Your goal now is to help Dion set up Aquatodome. To do so, use Raz’s Psionic Blast and hit the target on top of the highest flagpole near Dion.
Now, look for a tree (also near Dion) that has some vines on its trunk. Climb them, then use the bush on the wooden platform to reach the highest collectible above Dion’s Aquatodome. You’ll also have to balance on several ropes on your way up.
PSI Challenge Marker #5
Map Location: E (Lumberstack Diner)
The fifth PSI Challenge Marker is a bit trickier and will test your gaming skills. To be able to get it, you’ll have to enter Dion’s Aquatodome and complete the course. Start with the poles close to the ground and move up. Your prize is waiting on top of the highest platform.
PSI Challenge Marker #6
Map Location: E (Lumberstack Diner)
The sixth Marker is on the roof of the Lumberstack Diner. To get this one, start by bouncing on the trunk of the old car outside. Once you reach the roof, slide on the Lumberjack’s hatchet to get to the wooden platform. Go around the tree, then shoot the target on the Lumberjack’s back. Once the statue turns around, slide on the axe again and jump to get to the collectible.
PSI Challenge Marker #7
Map Location: Central Area
The seventh Psychonauts 2 PSI Marker is the trickiest one in this area. Simply because you can’t find it by normal means. As such, if you have a missing PSI Challenge Marker in the Questionable Area, then you did not complete the Search for Queepie optional mission. The last PSI Marker comes as a reward for this specific mission. You can start it by talking to this little fellow near the watermill.
These are all PSI Challenge Markers collectibles hidden by the Double Fine Productions devs in the Questionable Area of Psychonauts 2, so now let’s get the last 4 in Green Needle Gulch.
