Thymesia Sea Of Trees Story Locations Guide

One of the main drivers behind Thymesia‘s comparisons to Bloodborne is its setting and the gothic horror vibe. Thymesia‘s story is set in the Kingdom of Hermes, which was once thriving due to its advancements in alchemy, but the practice came at a catastrophic cost, swallowing the kingdom in chaos.

Sea of Trees, one of the realms, is now crawling with hellish beasts, nightmarish creatures, disease, and decay. You play Thymesia as Corvus, a mysterious man with a past shrouded in mystery, and if you want to learn all about his past or kingdom, you will want to collect all the stories.

So, in the following guide, we will show you where to find all Sea of Trees Stories across all four different quests, following the same order as in the table below.

Where To Find The Main Quest Stories

During the Sea of Trees Main Quest, you can find a total of 15 different stories, a couple of them in your way, and most of them hidden inside wooden barrels, crates, behind walls, or on secret paths. So, to save you time and effort, we’ve put together a step-by-step guide on where to find all 15 Sea of Trees Stories during the main quest.

Story #1 – Tattered Twilight Circus Recruitment Ad

After you start the Sea of Trees Main Quest, activate the beacon, cross the nearby bridge, kill the handaxe-wielding enemy, and then cross the second bridge on the right. By the end of the second bridge, you can already see a glowing green light on the wall in front of you, guarded by a knife-wielding enemy and a handaxe-wielding enemy, which is the first Sea Of Trees Story. After you kill both enemies, get close to the glowing green light and press the Examine button to add it to your collection.

Story #2 – Village Elder’s Manuscript 01

After you collect the previous story, turn around and kill the enemy who’s chopping a dead body on the ground. Next to the enemy, break all the empty wooden barrels until you find a crate in the small shack. You will find the second Sea of Trees Story inside the damaged crate.

Story #3 – Twilight Circus Poster

Now, climb the nearby ladder and follow the path until you encounter a corrupted shield-wielding enemy and a handaxe-wielding enemy. After you kill both enemies, you can collect the Sea of Trees Story off the nearby table next to the wooden bridge.

Story #4 – Note from an Unknown Hopeless 01

Cross the wooden bridge next to the table where you collected the previous story, kill the handaxe-wielding enemy, and drop down onto the next platform. By the end of the platform, you will find the fourth Story.

Story #5 – Tree Blessed’s Manuscript

Now, drop down again onto the next platform, keep going around the large tree trunk, and cross the second bridge that goes up. Climb the nearby ladder and follow the path to reach back, where we found the Story #3 Twilight Circus Poster on the table.

Enter the small shack next to the wooden table and smash the breakable wall in the back to reveal a hidden path. Cross the bridge and follow the path until you find the fifth Sea of Trees Story location, near a ladder that takes you down to the first beacon (unlocks a helpful shortcut in case you die).

Stories #6 & 7 – Notes on Hermes Life Sea of Trees 01 & Twilight Circus Recruitment Ad

Return to the shack, take the path to the right, across the bridge, where you will come across a corrupted knife-wielding enemy and a handaxe-wielding enemy. Once you cross the bridge, you can already see both Sea of Trees Stories between the cracks and openings of the walls on each side.

Clear the area of enemies, then destroy the wooden fence and barrels behind the left wall to find the Notes on Hermes Life Sea of Trees 01. Now, go behind the right wall to find the Twilight Circus Recruitment Ad on the wall next to a desk and a handaxe-wielding enemy who’s scavenging near a cart.

Story #8 – Village Elder’s Manuscript 02

After you kill the two enemies nearby, dash through the toxic mist towards the cyst using the dodge mechanic and blow it up to stop the plague. Climb the ladder, follow the path, and deal with the enemies along the way until you reach another area corrupted by a cyst. Before dashing towards the cyst, try to lure the enemies to you using the throwable feathers and kill them first, then take out the cyst.

After you destroy the cyst, look to the left side of the area to find several empty wooden barrels covering a ladder going up. Destroy the wooden barrels, climb the ladder, and destroy the cyst to quickly collect the eighth Sea of Trees Story near the cyst.

Stories #9 & 10 – Market Announcement & Notes on Hermes Life Circus 01

Return to the previous cyst, climb the ladder next to it, then climb the next ladder to reach a giant circus tent on the right and the second beacon right in front of you. Rest at the beacon first and tweak your character; then, you will have to kill the hammer-wielding mini-boss inside the tent to obtain the Key to the Side of the Tent to progress further.

After you defeat him, open the metal door near the beacon and follow the path up the bridge until you reach what looks like a marketplace. Kill the patroling spear-wielding enemy to collect the Market Announcement story collectible off the left wall easily. Then, kill the two handaxe-wielding enemies on the right path to find the Notes on Hermes Life Circus 01 on a desk near a wooden barrel and a cart.

Story #11 – Note from a Royal Guard

Now, proceed into the storage area, climb the ladder next to a locked door and a handaxe-wielding enemy at the bottom of it, and climb one more ladder to reach the top. Turn left and destroy the empty wooden barrels and fence to reveal a secret area. On the left side of the room is the Market’s Secret Room, where lies Emerald, one of the Thymesia‘s NPCs, but you will need the key to open it, which can be found on the following mini-boss.

Now, destroy the breakable wooden fence on the right side of the room and look down to see a glowing green light inside a crate. Jump down, destroy the crate, and examine the story.

Story #12 – Notes on Hermes Life Sea of Trees 02

Open the nearby door, climb the two ladders again, and proceed to the right until you see the toxic mist coming from one of the cysts. The toxic gas comes from a cyst one floor above, so climb the ladder on the left next to a wooden barrel and a cart and follow the path until you see the toxic mist again. Kill the corrupted spear-wielding and handaxe-wielding enemies and then dash toward the cyst to blow it up.

Go back down the ladder, then go to the center of the market and enter the cage with the large wine barrel after you deal with the enemies around. Take down the ladder near the wine barrel, and look on this floor for another ladder that takes you down to an enclosed area with wooden barrels, market stands, and crates. Inside one of the crates, you will find Notes on Hermes Life Sea of Trees 02.

Story #13 – Note from an Unknown Hopeless 02

Now, return to the center of the market and go across the nearby wooden bridge to fight against the spear-wielding mini-boss. After you defeat him, you will receive an Alchemy Enhancer to upgrade your potions and the Key to the Market’s Secret Room we mentioned earlier. After following the path for a couple of steps, turn left to find a handaxe-wielding enemy scavenging on a narrow platform.

Kill the enemy, then jump down on the platform below and deal with knife-wielding and shield-wielding enemies. Jump down one more time on the ground floor and go straight ahead in the corner of the area to find a handaxe-wielding enemy scavenging next to a wooden crate. Kill the enemy and destroy the crate to get the Note from an Unknown Hopeless 02.

Story #14 – Village Elder’s Manuscript 03

Now, enter the wooden building near the patrolling corrupted soldier with the large left arm and destroy the wooden barrels near the ramp on the right. In a crate between the wooden barrels, you will find the Village Elder’s Manuscript 03.

Story #15 – Notes on Hermes Life Circus 02

Go outside, and if you don’t feel confident enough or don’t have enough potions to kill the soldier with the giant arm, run past him and climb the stairs and the ladder to find the final beacon. After you rest at the beacon and tweak your character again, you can go back and fight him to avoid starting over from the last beacon.

But, to find the final Sea of Trees Story, rest at the beacon and destroy the three wooden on the left side of the building, you come to reveal a secret stairway. At the top of the stairs, look on the left for another stairway covered by wooden barrels and climb them to find the Notes on Hermes Life Circus 02.

Where To Find the Sub Quest 1 Stories

During the Sea of Trees Sub Quest 1, you can find a total of 7 different stories, most of them being along the way, but a couple are well hidden and can be easily missed. So, to avoid missing any stories, we will show you step-by-step where to find all 7 Sea of Trees Stories during Sub Quest 1.

Story #1 – Odur’s Vile Blood Research Notebook

Start the Sea of Trees Sub Quest 1, activate the nearby beacon, and don’t forget to tweak your loadout by leveling up your character and choosing talents. Go inside the nearby large tent and defeat the flying daggers-wielding mini-boss, then follow the right path behind the tent. Destroy the wooden barrel and crate to find Odur’s Vile Blood Research Notebook.

Story #2 – Note from an Unknown Hopeless 04

Leave the tent, go down the ladder to the left, kill the knife-wielding enemy, jump down into the toxic gas and dash towards the cyst to blow it up, then deal with the enemies around. Follow the path across the bridge and deal with enemies on the way until you find another cyst.

Lure the enemies to you out of the toxic mist using the throwable feathers and take them out, then go for the cyst. Proceed through the metal door and follow the path until you reach the next leader to find the Note from an Unknown Hopeless 04 at the bottom of it, right next to a handaxe-wielding enemy.

Story #3 – Legend of Four Thieves Vinegar 01

After you collect the previous story and kill the enemies, activate the nearby beacon. Near the beacon is another cyst releasing the toxic gas and a couple of enemies around. Again, lure the enemies to you using the throwable feathers and take them out, then go for the cyst.

Once you blow up the cyst inside the small hut to the right, where a knife-wielding enemy was lying inside, you will find the Legend of Four Thieves Vinegar 01.

Story #4 – Note from an Unknown Hopeless 05

Keep following the path, deal with the corrupted knife-wielding enemy along the way, and cross the bridge until you find another cyst (what a surprise). As we did before, lure the enemies out of the toxic gas, take them out, and dash towards the cyst to blow it up. Once you’re done, you will be able to find the Note from an Unknown Hopeless 05 on the table near the wooden bridge.

Story #5 – Manuscript of a Hopeless Prophet

Now, cross the nearby wooden bridge and deal with the handaxe-wielding enemy once you reach the other side. Go around the tree’s trunk and down the ladder to find the Manuscript of a Hopeless Prophet next to a shield-wielding enemy.

Story #6 – Whistleblower Records

Keep going around the tree’s trunk until you reach an intersection with two wooden bridges. Take the first bridge down on the right, go straight for the cyst blow it up, then kill all the enemies around. Proceed through the nearby doorway, climb the ladder and the stairs, then cross the bridge to find the Whistleblower Records on a table in a small shack.

Story #7 – Note from an Unknown Hopeless 03

Return to the intersection with the two bridges and cross the other bridge up. Wait for the hammer-wielding mini-boss to turn his back to the cyst, then dash towards it and blow it up. After you deal with the mini-boss, go behind the nearby small shack and destroy the wooden barrels inside. Between the barrels, you will find Note from an Unknown Hopeless 03, the final story in Sea of Trees Sub Quest 1.

Where To Find the Sub Quest 2 Stories

During the Sea of Trees Sub Quest 2, you can find seven stories, most of them well hidden in wooden barrels, pits, or a secret place. Also, the final story location is part of the Sea of Trees Sub Quest 2, an important story to find to complete the quest.

Story #1 – Legend of Four Thieves Vinegar 02

Start the Sea of Trees Sub Quest 2, activate the nearby beacon, and use your remaining memory shards to level up your character and pick up new talents. As you get outside, you will notice half of the area is covered in toxic gas from a cyst from a floor above, so you can’t destroy it immediately.

Also, the area is filled with many enemies that can overwhelm you really quickly, so try to lure them inside the building or into an open space. Now, the Legend of Four Thieves Vinegar 02 story can be found inside the toxic mist, in a corner guarded by corrupted spear-wielding and knife-wielding enemies. To grab the story, ensure you have full health, start dashing towards the story, quickly grab it, and dash back to safety.

Story #2 – Experiences of a Hopeless Builder 01

After you have picked the previous story, follow the path up the stairs, then climb the ladder until you encounter a corrupted spear-wielding enemy down the following stairs. Once you’ve defeated him, you can see the Experiences of a Hopeless Builder 01 at the bottom of the next set of stairs.

Story #3 – Tales of Folk Potions 04

Climb the stairs and follow the path while dealing with the enemies along the way until you reach a wooden bridge in front of you. Before crossing the bridge, open the metal door inside the pit on the left near the bridge to unlock a shortcut (in case you die). After you cross the bridge, you will face a twin swords-wielding mini-boss and a couple of regular enemies you must kill to progress further.

Once you defeat the mini-boss and clear the market area of enemies, go down the ladder inside the opened cage with the wine barrel. At the end of the floor, you will encounter a spear-wielding enemy and find the Tales of Folk Potions 04 behind him, inside one of the wooden barrels.

Story #4 – Sea of Trees Record of a Mysterious Event

After you pick the previous story, turn around, and right in front of you is a ladder taking you down to a lower floor. Climb down the ladder, kill the nearby enemy, and pick the Sea of Trees Record of a Mysterious Event off the table.

Story #5: Notes on Hermes Life Circus 03

Return to the market area where you defeated the twin swords-wielding mini-boss, go inside the storage building, climb down the ladder on the left, and then another ladder until you reach the beacon. After you rest at the beacon, go through the nearby metal door, then another door, and go across the wooden bridge to face a katana-wielding mini-boss.

Once you have defeated her, go inside the building, turn left, and under the stairs, a spear-wielding enemy guards a narrow storage area. At the far end of the room, between the wooden barrels, you will find the Notes on Hermes Life Circus 03.

Story #6 – Experiences of a Hopeless Builder 03

Go outside of this storage area, and climb the stairs one floor, go straight forward to find a set of stairs covered in toxic mist coming from one of the cysts. Dash on stairs through the toxic mist, then turn right on top to reach a safe spot with a wooden door.

Open the door, kill the two enemies in the hallway, and go down the stairs, then down the ladder inside a pit. You will find the Experiences of a Hopeless Builder 03 in one of the wooden barrels.

Story #7 – Odur’s Construction Notebook

From the pit, return to the last safe spot (next to the wooden door), dash ahead, hugging the right wall, and immediately turn right to find a narrow storage area guarded by two enemies. Take them down to find Odur’s Construction Notebook in the back of the storage and complete the quest.

Where To Find the God of the Fools Stories

During the Sea of Trees God of the Fools, you can find only two different stories, one of them being a little bit harder to find and get.

Story #1 – Note from an Unknown Hopeless 06

After you start the Sea of Trees God of the Fools quest and activate the nearby beacon, make your way on the wooden platforms until you reach the upper floor and blow up the 3rd cyst. As you leave the safe spot where you destroyed the 3rd cyst, the platform behind you will crumble, and you will find yourself on the path vulnerable to God of the Fools’ attacks.

On this path, you will encounter a corrupted shield-wielding enemy near a safe spot from God of the Fools’ attacks. Run past him, reach the safe spot, and kill him and the handaxe-wielding enemy. On the right corner of this spot, you will find inside one of the wooden barrels the Note from an Unknown Hopeless 06.

Story #2 – Experiences of a Hopeless Builder 02

From here, keep following the path, destroy the following cyst, and defeat the flying daggers-wielding mini-boss. After defeating her, instead of going up using the nearby ladder, keep following the path behind the wooden barrels and a cart.

The path ahead is covered in toxic mist, so you will have to dash forward until you reach a safe spot. In this area, you will face another mini-boss wielding a hammer and a couple of regular enemies. Once you clear the area, destroy the nearby cyst up the ramp to reveal the location of the Experiences of a Hopeless Builder 02 on top of the ramp.
