Black Metal is a Valheim Crafting Material obtained by smelting Black Metal Scraps at a Blast Furnace, and since it is used to craft some really powerful weapons (no armor, though), below I’ll tell you everything you need to know about this type of metal featured in the video game developed by Iron Gate.
So if you’re wondering how to smelt Valheim Black Metal Scraps or how to farm Black Metal, then you’re in the right spot because I’m also going to explain how to get unlimited Black Metal Bars.
As you probably guess, the Black Metal in Valheim is obtained by smelting Scraps; therefore, let’s start by learning where to find them.
Valheim Black Metal Scraps Locations
This type of scrap is actually pretty easy to locate in Valheim; because, unlike Tin or Copper, for example, you don’t have to do any mining.
The Scraps are dropped by specific mobs known as Fulings.
They are similar to Goblins, and they can be found in the Plains Biome. Most of them are located in Fuling Villages, although sometimes you’ll find them patrolling around.
Below you can see such a village.
When approaching a Fuling Village, you’ll most likely encounter common Fulings, Fuling Berserkers and Fuling Shamans. Once you deal with them, check their corpses to get Black Metal Scraps.
Additionally, you may find scraps in the chests within the said village, but the drop rate is lower.
So focus on this type of enemy, and don’t forget to fully explore their villages because here you’ll find Barley and Fulling Totems to summon Yagluth.
How To Smelt Black Metal Scrap
To smelt the Valheim Black Metal Scraps, you’ll need the Blast Furnace we already discussed.
The problem with this building or structure; however, is that in order to unlock it; you’ll need an Artisan Table; and this table requires 2 Dragon Tears, which are dropped by another boss named Moder.
So simply put, you will not be able to build a Blast Furnace unless you defeat the said boss in the Mountain Biome.
Luckily, Moder is quite easy to find because, well, he is a dragon, and with a decent party, you’ll be able to take him down.
After you deal with him, grab the Dragon Tears, then return to your settlement and build the Artisan Table. Now, you should be able to build your own Blast Furnace and process the scraps.
As you can see in the image above, the Blast Furnace can be placed out in the opening, and the smelting process is similar to the one from a normal Smelter.
There are two small refueling ports on the left side. In one of them, you’ll need to place Coal, and in the other one, the Scraps.
Now, all you have to do is wait.
Before we move forward with the recipes, keep in mind that the Black Metal Scraps can’t be teleported through Portals, so you can either carry them back to your settlement or you can build a furnace in the Plains Biome.
Obviously, if you prefer, you can also use the Valheim Teleport Cheat we talked about.
Black Metal Recipes & Uses
Good, so now that we know how to get and smelt the Scraps, let’s see the Black Metal recipes available so far in the game.
Basically, this type of metal allows you to craft the following weapons:
- Blackmetal Atgeir
- Blackmetal Axe
- Black Metal Shield
- Blackmetal Knife
- Blackmetal Sword
- Black Metal Tower Shield
As you can see, there is a handful of great weapons that require this type of crafting material, and it is also worth mentioning that these require a Forge, and they have specific requirements.
Finally, you’ll have to know that at the time of this writing, there is not a single Valheim Black Metal armor recipe available.
Black Metal Spawn Id Farming Cheat
Last, but not least, if you wish to farm Black Metal in Valheim, you can use this material’s Spawn Id.
The said Id allows you to spawn an unlimited number of bars in the video game. You know, for your crafting needs.
To use it, here is what you need to do:
- Press F5 to bring up the game’s console
- Next, type imacheater to activate the Valheim Cheat Mode
- Finally, type spawn BlackMetal X, where X represents the number of bars you wish to get. For example, spawn BlackMetal 60 spawns 60 bars or two stacks
And that’s it, friends. Now you know where to find Black Metal Scraps in Valheim, how to farm this material, and also how to use it.
