While exploring Sanctuary’s harsh, dark, and unforgiving world in Diablo 4, you may come across a Silent Chest with a magical lock over it.
However, upon attempting to open it, the Silent Chest will prompt you that a Whispering Key is needed. If you’re uncertain what a Whispering Key is or where to obtain one, you’ve come to the right place!
As such, in the following guide, we’ll provide you with information on where to obtain Whispering Keys to unlock the Silent Chests in Diablo 4.
Additionally, we’ll give you an idea of what you can expect to find inside these chests, helping you determine if it’s worth your while to open them.
How To Unlock Silent Chests in Diablo IV
If you want to unlock Silent Chests in Diablo 4, you’ll need to purchase Whispering Keys from the Purveyor of Curiosities.
Purveyor of Curiosities is located in the hub city of Kyovashad and is marked by a merchant icon with a small question mark on the map.
Each Whispering Key costs 20 Murmuring Obols, a rare currency that can be earned by completing World Events indicated on your map with large orange circles, cleansing Cursed Chests or Shrines in dungeons, or completing specific quests with a cache as a reward.
After interacting with the Purveyor of Curiosities, scroll to the bottom of his inventory to find the Whispering Keys.
Once you acquire a Whispering Key, return to a Silent Chest and open it to obtain new equipment.
These chests may contain anything from common to legendary items, making them a valuable source for farming legendaries in Diablo IV.
A minor inconvenience with Silent Chests is that they are randomly spawned, which means you won’t be able to find them in the exact locations as somebody else.
We suggest buying a few Whispering Keys and having them on hand to open the chests as soon as you come across them while exploring.
And that’s everything you need to know about Silent Chests and Whispering Keys in Diablo 4. Make sure to check our Wiki Hub Page for more helpful information.
