But first, let’s understand what High Contrast Mode means.

Well, simply put, the High Contrast Mode will make dark colors darker and bright colors brighter.

This option will eventually improve the clarity of the objects you see on the screen; however, keep in mind that this option works only with some features.

Furthermore, you should not confuse the High Contrast Mode on PlayStation 5 with the contrast you can increase and decrease while playing a game. Now with a game’s gamma.

Although these options work together, they are a bit different.

This means that once you enable the High Contrast Mode on PlayStation 5, you can further increase the contrast using the option available in a game’s settings menu.

It is also important to remember that not all video games allow you to increase or decrease the contrast, but most of them do.

Usually, if this option is available it can be found in the in-game settings. Simply check the Video Settings tab after you start the game.

Enabling PS5 High Contrast Mode

The first thing you’ll need to do is to start your console.

  • From the dashboard (your console’s main menu) navigate to Settings.

  • Now, go to Display; which is a new sub-menu that wasn’t available on PS4.
  • Finally, go to High Contrast.
  • Toggle it ON/OFF by checking/unchecking the small box on the right side of your screen.

Play around with this option and pick the one you like the most.

The PlayStation 5 Enable Screen Reader option is an important feature you may want to use on your new PS5 especially if the user has disabilities or is a bit young and doesn’t know how to read.

This feature; which is also known as a Text to Speech Screen Reader; basically allows your system to read the text on the screen, for better understanding.

However, just like other PS5 functions (Auto-Scroll Speed or Text Size), this option only works with some features and it works only while using the system’s UI (User Interface).

In other words, you won’t be able to see any changes while playing a video game, unless that title comes with a similar option.

Nevertheless, the Enable Screen Reader is extremely useful when navigating the system’s menu.

If you activate it, using the steps below, you’ll hear a voice reading the text on the screen.

Tye type of voice can be changed; as well as its volume and speed, so the user can easily understand what the screen displays at a specific moment.

Along with the option to increase the text size, the new PlayStation 5 also allows you to change Auto-Scroll Speed, and below I’ll explain how to do this.

But first, let’s see what is the Auto-Scroll Speed?

Simply put the Auto-Scroll Speed is an option that determines how fast or how slow the text automatically scrolls on your screen while using the PlayStation 5.

And this text can be seen in various places in the UI or the User Interface.

A good example would be the PlayStation Store. After you pick a game you’ll see various details about it. Such as a small summary, requirements, and more.

The text in the description tends to move automatically so you don’t have to scroll it manually using the thumbsticks.

The speed at which the text is moving from the bottom of the screen to the top is the Auto-Scroll Speed.

Now, since the reading speed of each user is different, you can adjust this setting following several easy steps.
