As you journey through the Kingdom of Hyrule in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, you will come across a variety of weird creatures ready to take you down at every corner.
One of them is the Battle Talus, a giant mobile fortress transformed by Bokoblins, who have added structures and reinforced its body with wooden planks on the upper part to deter enemies.
In the lands of Hyrule, there are many Battle Talus that can be found; some are concealed underground, while others roam freely.
So, in the following Zelda Tears of the Kingdom guide, we’ll go through strategies for defeating the Battle Talus as quickly as possible.
How To Beat The Battle Talus In Zelda Tears of the Kingdom
Before discussing strategies to defeat the Battle Talus, let’s first talk about its unique features. The Battle Talus is a distinct variation of the Stone Talus, equipped with platforms on the upper part of its body where Bokoblins can be found.
These features add complexity to the fight, requiring more advanced tactics. However, they also give opportunities to gain an advantage over the enemy.
If you encounter one that is hidden underground, you may have an advantage as you can launch a surprise attack on the Bokoblins and defeat them before facing the Battle Talus.
But the first Battle Talus you most likely stumble across is east of the Lookout Landing and Yamiyo Shrine. This big guy can be found near the Orsedd Bridge’s end.
To defeat the Battle Talus, start by aiming and shooting arrows at the Bokoblins on the platforms.
Consider fusing materials like Fire Fruit or Bomb Flowers to your arrows to increase damage and potentially knock them off the platforms or take out multiple enemies at once.
If the Battle Talus targets you immediately, it’s best to maintain a safe distance and eliminate the Bokoblins individually.
It’s crucial to defeat all of them before attempting to attack the Talus. Therefore, ensure that you have a sufficient supply of arrows. But if you run out of arrows, you can always pick the ones from the Bokoblins.
After eliminating all the Bokoblins, let’s focus on the main challenge. The strategy remains the same – use your bow and arrows, and aim at the black crystal situated on the Talus’ shoulder, which is its weak spot.
To make the shot easier, simply hold (ZL) to lock on to the target. If you’re struggling to hit the black crystal on the shoulder of the Battle Talus, you can attach a Keese Eye to your arrows before firing. This will give them a homing effect, making accuracy less of a concern.
After you hit the black crystal, the Battle Talus will wiggle and kneel down to regain its strength. Immediately after hitting its weak spot, move closer and position yourself beneath one of the platforms on its body.
Use the Ascend Ability unlocked in the Gutanbac Shrine to emerge on top of the platform and inflict as much damage as possible on its black crystal weak spot.
Blunt weapons, such as a Rock Hammer, are the best to use here because they deplete the most health.
Once you have landed a few hits on the Talus, it will try to throw you off. If it succeeds, you will be knocked to the ground and stunned for 1-2 seconds.
Watch for its shaking movements and jump off as he leans forward to prevent this from happening and avoid any damage.
Also, when facing the Talus, be prepared for it to hurl massive boulders your way. However, you can easily avoid them by running to either side.
Just be sure to keep a safe distance all the time, as getting too close will result in a painful death from its rocky fist.
To successfully beat the Battle Talus, simply repeat the damage phase as mentioned above. With persistence, you’ll bring it down in no time.
Your reward for victory includes rare ore materials and a Stone Talus Heart. Although the heart cannot be collected, it can be fused to a weapon to increase its damage potential significantly.
And that’s how you defeat the Battle Talus in Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. If you have any questions or suggestions, drop them in the comments below.
