Legend Of Zelda Tears Of The Kingdom Ishodag Shrine Puzzle Solution

May 11, 2023

Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Ishodag Shrine requires you to think outside the box to come up with a creative solution to all the puzzles within.

The Ishodag Shrine is mainly focused on using the Fans, which are Zonai devices that generate wind using an internal propeller. And that’s why the shrine is titled A Windy Device.

In order to complete the Ishodag Shrine, it is mandatory to unlock the Paraglider during the Crisis at Hyrule Castle main quest, which is relatively early into the game.

As such, in the following Legend of Zelda ToTK Shrine guide, we will give you guidance on where to find the Ishodag Shrine and how to complete it to collect your reward.

Where To Find The Tears Of The Kingdom Ishodag Shrine

The Ishodag Shrine is located in the Quarry Ruins of the Central Hyrule region, northwest of the Lookout Landing.

To reach the marked location, you don’t need any special unlock. Once you get there, you’ll find the entrance to the Ishodag Shrine at the top of a mountain, and you’ll have to climb up.

Now, let’s see how to solve the Ishodag Shrine puzzle rooms in The Legend of Zelda TotK.

How To Complete The Legend Of Zelda Ishodag Shrine Puzzle

After you enter the Ishodag Shrine – A Windy Device, you will come up to a ledge you can’t climb with your hands.

Also, there is a Fan nearby, a Zonai device that produces wind with its internal propeller. We need to use this device to climb the ledge, but how?

While holding (L), select the Ultrahand Ability, then grab the Fan, rotate it upward, and place it near the ledge.

Hit the Fan with anything to start it running. While standing near it, double press (X) to jump and activate the paraglider while in the air. Don’t press too quickly, or the paraglider won’t activate.

In the next section of the Ishodag Shrine, you’ll see a wooden plank and a Fan on the ground.

Unfortunately, the water currents are too powerful to swim to the other side, so we will have to improvise a boat.

Select the Ultrahand Ability as before, grab the Fan, and attach it to the back of the wooden plank.

Grab this improvised boat and place it into the water, as shown in the image below.

Finally, hop on the boat and hit the Fan to start running and reach the other side of the water.

For the final part of the Ishodag Shrine, we will have to create an elevator using those two fans. But before we do that, let’s grab the treasure chest on the flipped platform on the right side.

Grab one of the two Fans and attach it to the left side near the edge. Check the image below for visual reference.

Then, hit the Fan to start it running and to create a bridge. While holding (L), select the Ascend ability and go through this bridge to reach the treasure chest containing an Opal.

After you open the treasure chest, drop down from the bridge, select the Ultrahand Ability, and grab the running Fan. Drop the Fan on the ground and hit it once to stop running.

Now, to create a working elevator, you’ll have to grab the two Fans and attach them to each side of the stone platform facing downward. For a visual reference, see the image below.

Have Something To Add? Do It Here:

  1. Definitely not “mandatory” to have the paraglider for this one, though it does make it easier.

First part there’s two options- Near the ledge set the fan up high and let it fall down and rewind while you’re standing on it to boost you up. Or along the wall near the ledge do something similar and timelock the fan in a spot for you to use it as a step to get up.

Second part- Complete as shown, but bring the raft with you.

Third part- It’s easy to mount the two fans onto the platform to push yourself up, but a little more complicated to get the chest. Take the fan off the raft and stick the wood piece as far up the lever as you can reach. Then grab onto the chest and move it slowly upward until the lever is flat horizontal. The extra weight of the wood should be just barely enough to hold the lever flat. I also put the extra fan on the lever once horizontal just in case to help hold it there. Then you can ride the platform up and drop down to the lever with the chest. Sneak past the piece of wood you attached and the chest is yours. Then simply reset the fans on the platform with an arrow and go back up to complete the shrine. Pretty sure the ability to go up through a ceiling would make this easier too but I forgot about that XD.
