Your Legend Of Zelda Tears Of The Kingdom journey starts with a Prologue introducing the story behind Link’s new adventure in the latest video game developed by Nintendo.
While linear, The Legend Of Zelda Tears Of The Kingdom Prologue is essential in setting the stage for the events that occur in one of the best video games in history, thus allowing new Zelda fans to understand some of the game’s lore.
Even though it doesn’t feature any puzzles, the Prologue or the introductory part in The Legend Of Zelda ToTK can become confusing for those who play a Zelda game for the first time, mainly because the game doesn’t offer too many hints on what you have to do.
To help you navigate the amazing world of Legend Of Zelda Tears Of The Kingdom, our Prologue walkthrough will guide you from the start to the end, explaining all the steps you must take to complete the first quest/objective in the game.
Exploring Hyrule Castle Ruins With Zelda
As the game starts, you’ll find yourself beneath the Hyrule Castle Ruins, where Zelda and Link investigate a strange gloom.
The first objective in the Prologue is to stay close to Zelda and help her uncover a small fraction of Hyrule’s history.
This objective also introduces some of the game’s mechanics and controls. The path ahead is linear, meaning that you can only follow a single tunnel; however, it’s best not to rush through it.
Instead, stop occasionally and allow Link to talk to Zelda. She has a lot to share with him, and some dialogue lines can be missed if you run through the tunnels.
As you continue navigating the tunnels ahead, Zelda will investigate some of the ruins. Pay close attention to what she says and stop whenever she stops. There are three ruins she’ll take a closer look at and use her Purah Pad to take pictures.
Continue to descend following the only possible path, and eventually, you’ll reach a larger room where you’ll get ambushed by several bats.
Surely they are no match for you, so press on your Nintendo Switch controller to deal with them.
After you deal with all bats, watch the next cutscene and allow Zelda to share her knowledge about the Zonai.
Now, head through the next door and follow the tunnel with red smoke. It will lead Link and Zelda to another room.
When Zelda asks Link if he is ready to continue, select OK, then get ready for a rather long cutscene introducing one of the game’s antagonists. You should also say farewell to Zelda for now—and Link’s right hand.
How To Escape Hyrule Castle Ruins In The Legend Of Zelda ToTK Prologue
After waking up, Zelda will be gone once again, and you’ll find yourself wearing only some pants. Luckily Link’s right hand has been replaced, but his sword is heavily damaged.
To exit the first room, pick the remains of Link’s sword (Decayed Master Sword) from the tree roots on the left side, then cut the vines blocking the path ahead by mashing while next to them.
As you enter the next room while playing the Prologue, you’ll spot a round seal.
Don’t waste your time exploring the room because it’s empty. Instead, approach the seal and press to examine it, thus opening a door on top of the stairs.
Head through the newly opened door, and you’ll get to a round platform above water. Jump to the small pond below, then when you exit on the other side, keep pushing through the tunnel ahead.
Now, jump to the ledge above, follow the next tunnel, and hop into the second pool. Finally, step on the third round plate and jump into the third pool.
When you exit on the other side, you’ll spot the door leading outside the ruins; however, before heading outside, make sure you loot the chest on the left side while facing the door. Inside you’ll find the first Archaic Armor Set piece or the Archaic Legwear you can equip from your inventory by pressing the + button.
Now head outside, take a deep breath, and while standing on the round platform, jump to the area below. While in the air, you won’t be able to control Link, so just enjoy the amazing view.
After you land, you’ll enter the first area in the game, known as Great Sky Island. You can take your time exploring the area, but if you focus on your objective, the next step is to exit the lake and follow the path ahead.
Stick to the concrete road, and descend the stairs. Eventually, you’ll encounter a new enemy known as a Soldier Construct.
To defeat the Construct, you can attack him with your sword, but it will eventually run out of energy. When this happens, look around for a Tree Branch, pick it up, and equip it.
This new weapon should be more than enough to deal with the Construct, so after you defeat him, loot the remains: Soldier Construct Horn and Zonai Charge.
Great job! Now return to the concrete path, and keep following it, because it will lead you to another Construct. Luckily this is a friendly one.
Upon interacting with the Steward Construct, Link will retrieve Zelda’s Purah Pad which allows him to access the map.
As you are about to see when you press – to open the map, most all areas are unexplored, but you’ll be able to reveal them later. If you need help, check our guide on how to unlock The Legend Of Zelda Tears Of The Kingdom map.
After obtaining the Purah Pad, the Prologue ends, and you’ll receive the next quest and objective, which requires you to Find Princess Zelda. Before leaving, it’s recommended to talk to the Steward Construct again, as he has additional information to provide.
