Message in a Bottle is one of the hidden side quests of the Scosglen region in Diablo 4, where you must find a specific item and bring it back to an NPC, or in our case, the recipient of the message.

What makes it different from the other Scosglen side quests is that the Message in a Bottle quest starting location isn’t marked with a blue exclamation mark, nor do you have to pick up a randomly dropped quest item.

This means if you’re the kind of player who likes to interact with everything you come across, you may have a slight chance of triggering the Message in a Bottle side quest.

Therefore, in the following Diablo IV guide, we will explain how to start the Message in a Bottle quest and what you must do to complete it.

How To Start the Message in a Bottle Quest in Diablo IV

To start the Message in a Bottle quest in Diablo 4, you’ll have to find and interact with the Washed-Ashore Bottle in the Razor Shoals area of the Strand subregion.

After interacting with the Washed-Ashore Bottle, you’ll receive the Bundled Heirloom with Letter quest item, marking the start of the side quest.

D4 Washed-Ashore Bottle Location

The Bundled Heirloom with Letter contains a message from Padrig’s father, Hercan. In the letter, Hercan informs Padrig that he couldn’t make it due to the Drowned’s attack on the ship.

So, to reach the Washed-Ashore Bottle, fast-travel to the Corbach waypoint and make your way to the northern coastline of Strand.

We’ve also marked the exact location of the bottle on the map below.
