Diablo 4 Phases of the Moon is an Act 3 side-quest in which you can help Arban, a male NPC, get some Khazra bones to get rid of a curse.

Phases of the Moon is mandatory if you want to complete all 38 Dry Steppes side-quests in the latest video game developed by Blizzard Entertainment.

However, the quest can get tricky because you have to kill a lot of Khazra, then collect their bones and deliver them to Arban.

Therefore, throughout the following walkthrough, we’ll provide tips to aid you in completing D4 Phases of the Moon side-quest as fast as possible.

How To Start the Phases of the Moon Quest in Diablo 4

The quest has requirements you must meet for it to become available.

First, you have to reach the Dry Steppes region by progressing with the main story all the way to Act 3.

Then, you must make your way to the southeastern corner of the region and conquer the Qara-Yisu Stronghold.

Finally, you need to find Arban, who is sitting close enough to the Qara-Yisu Waypoint.

The NPC says three mine workers fled in the night, and it seems more are to follow.

The workers think the mine is cursed, but even if it is, Arban says they have a job to do.

Arban has heard in old superstitions that Khazra bones ward against curses.

He doesn’t have the men to procure the bones, but he has coins he is willing to give you if you accept the job.

Assuming you want to help out Arban, let’s see how you can get the Khazra bones.

After finishing talking to the quest giver, you can open your map to see a rather large search area to the southwest, on the south side of Accursed Wastes.

The search area is filled with Khazra you can slay for a chance to get bones from their remains.

Note that each Khazra gets marked with a red dot on your map when you get close enough.

The quest's search area is located southwest of the Qara-Yisu Stronghold

It’s important to know that killing a Khazra doesn’t mean you’ll get a guaranteed drop.

In fact, you have to kill multiple Khazra to get a drop.

Thus, considering you need a total of 25 Khazra bones, you have some serious hunting to do.

It would be best to go for big groups of mobs to increase your chances of getting a drop, and don’t waste time taking them out one by one.

Also, from time to time, an event will start in the southwestern corner of the search area, and you’ll find a lot of Khazra there; you’ll also get some loot as a bonus by completing the event.

Once you have the 25 Khazra bones, you can return to Arban to conclude the Diablo 4 Phases of the Moon quest and get your rewards: Renown points, Gold, XP, and a Gem Cache. However, if you’re up for more questing, you can go to Crane Tribe Humoot and start the Culling of Flesh side-quest.
