Diablo 4 Shadow of Alcarnus is a kill quest you can start in the Scouring Sands area of Kehjistan and have to complete assuming you are aiming for 100% completion in the desert region of the video game developed by Blizzard Entertainment.

Shadow of Alcarnus, which counts as one of the 44 Kehjistan side-quests, requires you to kill a bunch of mobs so that a couple of travelers can pass through the area unharmed.

The Shadow Alcarnus quest can be tricky, at least until you find what mobs you have to defeat exactly.

No worries, though, because we have your back as always, and throughout the walkthrough below, we’ll provide all the instructions needed to easily complete D4 Shadow of Alcarnus side-quest.

How To Start Shadow of Alcarnus Quest in Diablo 4

Shadow of Alcarnus becomes available in the Kehjistan region after reaching Act 4.

More exactly, you have to head to the Forlorn Badlands on the west side of the Scouring Sands area, where you can find what remains of a caravan.

You have the exact location pinpointed on the next map.

To start the quest, you must talk to Torlos, who will tell you that he and his fellow travelers got attacked by some creatures.

As they have no more fight left in them, you must clear a path for the caravan so it can get to safety.

Now let’s see where you can find the fly demons that are terrorizing the Forlorn Badlands.

When you are done talking to Torlos, you can open your map to see a search area around the Forlorn Badlands, just like in the screenshot below.

Slay fly demons in Forlorn Badlands for the quest objective

The secret is to explore the search area and kill the foes marked with red dots on your minimap.

However, you need to get pretty close to the creatures to make the red dots appear.

Thus, you’re better off just killing everything that moves in the search area.

Also, it’s worth mentioning that if you see creatures marked with red dots outside of the search area, you can slay them and still get credit for the quest’s objective.

Look for the red dots on your minimap to see what creatures you must slay

Now start hunting, and keep in mind you have to kill a total of twelve fly demons.

Luckily the creatures are pretty easy to take down, and once you’re done, return to Torlos to give him the good news.

The NPC is extremely happy and gives you everything he has as compensation.

Congratulations are in order, Nephalem! Because you’ve completed Diablo 4 Shadow Alcarnus quest and received the following: Gold, XP, Renown points, and a Cache. However, there are more side-quests you can complete in the Kehjistan region, like In Desperate Times, which becomes available in Act 6.
