Diablo 4 Whispers From Below is the first side quest in the Sodden Pact questline available in Scosglen, or the second region you’ll get to explore in the video game released by Blizzard Entertainment on June 6, 2023.

As one of the 47 Diablo 4 Scosglen side-quests, Whispers From Below is mandatory if you wish to tackle all side-quests in the game, and it is the first step in a questline consisting of 4 side-quests.

The Sodden Pact questline allows you to solve a mystery in the Northshore area, and our Diablo IV Whispers From Below walkthrough covers the objectives you must complete for the first quest, which involves the disappearance of an NPC named Cecil.

How To Start the Whispers From Below Quest in Diablo 4

To begin the Whispers From Below side-quest in Diablo 4, first, you must enter Scosglen, the second area in the game, while following the main story.

As you progress through the second act, you’ll eventually play the Dark Omen main quest, which is required for unlocking the Whispers From Below quest. Once you finish the Dark Omen, check the northwestern side of Scosglen.

When you get to Northshore, look for an NPC named Roina, east of Marowen, at the location marked below.

Diablo 4 Whispers From Below starts east of Marowen in Scosglen region.

As you approach Roina’s location, you’ll find her in front of a house. Ask her what happened, and she’ll show you two bodies in front of the door.

The bodies belong to Cecil’s grandchildren, a friend of Roina. What puzzles the NPC is the fact that Cecil left the house and his grandchildren, which is quite unusual.

Your first objective for this quest is to check the bodies of Callum and Devlin or Cecil’s grandchildren. As such, interact with the corpses by the door, and you’ll notice that both are bloated.

This means that they were drowned, but the river is too far. Since Cecil is missing, the next logical step is to find him.

Where To Find Cecil in Diablo 4

After you check the two bodies near Cecil’s house, open your map, and you’ll spot a blue search area you’ll have to investigate.

It is southeast of your current location, so make your way to the area marked on your map. While inside the borders, you must find Cecil.

If you pay close attention to the area you must investigate, you’ll see a jump point. Make sure you use it to get to the other side of the river, then head north.

As you can see below, in Diablo 4, Cecil is found several steps north of the jump point. You can also see that the NPC is trying to reach something in the water.

Look for Cecil by the river within the search area on your map

When you get close to Cecil, you’ll hear him talking to someone named Eadar, then he suddenly vanishes.

Now, it’s time to talk to Roina about what just happened. She’ll tell you that a wight took Cecil and most likely killed his grandchildren. According to Roina, the wight haunts the coast for quite some time, drowning the weak.

But Roina also holds a secret, as you will see later. For now, she wants you to meet her at the Abandoned Coast, the next location you must visit during the second quest in the Diablo 4 Sodden Pact questline.

After you finish the Whispers From Below quest, claim your rewards (Gold, XP, Renown Points, and a Salvage Cache), then clear your inventory before starting A Sodden Pact side-quest.
