Diablo IV Woodsman of Nevesk is a side-quest you can trigger early in the game in the small village of Nevesk, and it requires you to find the Woodsman’s Axe.

The Woodsman of Nevesk is a fetch quest and is relatively easy to complete, even though you must deal with the Woodsman if you want to get your hands on his Axe.

The side-quest is, however, mandatory if you wish to complete all side quests in the Fractured Peaks region; therefore, our Diablo 4 Woodsman of Nevesk walkthrough below covers all of its objectives and the locations of the Woodsman’s Axe.

How To Start the Woodsman of Nevesk Quest in Diablo IV

Woodsman of Nevesk becomes available after you reach Kyovashad, the hub city in the Fractured Peaks region.

Kyovashad is discovered while playing the game’s Prologue, and after you complete it, you’ll have to backtrack to the small town of Nevesk.

In case you don’t remember, Nevesk is the first village your Nephalem enters at the beginning of the game, and it is found on the southwestern side of Fractured Peaks.

During the Prologue, your Nephalem deals with most villagers, so now you must return to the cursed village to meet new NPCs.

One of them is Magdalena, and her location is marked on the map below.

When you get to the location of the NPC, you’ll see her trying to find something; and when you talk to her; she tells you that she is looking for the Axe of the Woodsman, a killer who used to butcher travelers.

Magdalena heard rumors that the Woodsman had left the area, leaving his weapon behind. Magdalena also tells you that a priest hired her to find the weapon, and she is willing to share with you some coins, provided you help her find the Axe.

Where To Search the Wilderness for the Woodsman’s Axe in Diablo 4

After starting the quest, while tracking it in your journal, open your map and notice the highlighted blue area you must investigate.

As you can see, it is northeast of Nevesk, and so is the Woodsman’s Axe you are looking for.

Travel to the highlighted area, and remember that some objectives in Diablo 4 spawn at random locations. However, you’ll want to start your search at the northernmost point of the highlighted area, which we have marked below.

Look for the Woodsman’s Axe in the northernmost point of Boulder Ridge

This is one of the possible spawn locations for the Axe, and it’s recommended to start your search with it. If you can’t find the Axe at the marked location, remain within the highlighted borders and look around for a large axe in a tree stump.

You can see what it looks like in the following screenshot.

Before interacting with the Axe in the tree stump, keep in mind that you must deal with the Woodsman, who spawns nearby. Defeating him is mandatory because he drops the Axe Magdalena is looking for.

After you defeat the elite mob, head back to Nevesk and talk to Magdalena.

For completing the Diablo 4 Woodsman of Nevesk side-quest, you’ll increase your Fractured Peaks Renown by 20 points and receive XP, gold, and a Murmuring Cache. Open it to receive 50 Murmuring Obols. Additionally, you’ll unlock the Chain of Possession side-quest, which continues the story of the cursed Axe you have found.
