Starfield Prepare the Ship for the Grav Drive is one of the objectives of the First Contact mission.

Once you meet the ECS Contact crew members and negotiate with Oliver Campbell and his board members, you will have three options for handling this situation.

If you decide to purchase the Grav Drive, you must pay at least 40,000 Credits and prepare the ship for the new equipment.

But if you successfully persuade Bennu St. James, he will agree to sell it to you for 25,000 credits. It’s a good discount, nonetheless.

However, if you are reading this guide, it means you’ve missed or already forgotten Amin’s instructions on how to prepare the ECS Contact ship for their new Grav Drive in Starfield.

Don’t worry, because it happened to me as well. Keep reading to find out about how to get the ship ready in the video game developed and published by Bethesda.

Then, you must interact with the three engineering control computers nearby and input the following commands:

  • Engineering Control Computer Alpha: [Turbopump – Port] -> [Cryogenic Radiator – Auxiliary].
  • Engineering Control Computer Beta: [Plasma Run-Off Inhibiter] -> [5%].
  • Engineering Control Computer Gamma: [Magnetic Flange Pipe Enclosures] -> [Decouple] -> [Auxiliary Module Assembly].

Don’t worry if you make a mistake while making selections, you can always go back and correct it. It won’t explode anything from accidentally pressing the wrong button.

If the computer detects an incorrect input, it will prompt you to make corrections: “ERROR – CANNOT COMPLETE INSTRUCTION

Once you see a mission update in the left corner of your screen, it means you have successfully completed the task.

After successfully inputting all the commands above, Amin will confirm that everything is good on both ends and instruct you to report back to the Captain.

Finally, head back to Captain Diana Brackenridge to complete the First Contact mission in Starfield. Feel free to check our Wiki Hub Page if you need additional help with other quests or objectives in the game.
