Starfield Topher Ugowat’s Safe Key Location

While working on the Tapping the Grid side mission in the underground area of the New Atlantis city in Starfield, you may come across Topher’s locked apartment near one of the junction boxes.

Upon unlocking the door with a Digipick and entering the apartment, you will not be greeted warmly. A robotic dog named Big Bruno will jump on you to protect its territory.

After you take it down and search the area, you’ll discover his locked safe, but without a trace of the key.

Where To Find Starfield Topher’s Apartment

Topher’s apartment can be found in The Well, the underground area of the New Atlantis City on the planet Jamison in the Alpha Centauri System.

To reach it, open your star map and fast-travel to the MAST District on the planet Jamison.

Head down the slope towards the NAT Station, then turn left to take the elevator that leads to The Well area.

After exiting the elevator, take the first steps on the right, near the Med Bay shop, then take the steps on the left next to the goalpost.

At the top of the short stairs, follow the path on the right and activate the nearby switch to open the red metal door ahead.

You will find Topher’s apartment at the end of this corridor. The door is locked with a Novice level lock.

Unlock the door by solving the Digipick puzzle and prepare yourself for a fight.

Where To Find Topher’s Key in Starfield

Upon entering the apartment, you will encounter a large robotic dog named Big Bruno.

If you are not very well equipped, it can be quite a tanky boy that deals significant damage, so avoid standing still while fighting.

After you defeat it, you can loot it for some crafting materials.

As you look around the bedroom, you’ll find a safe on the left side of the bed that can only be unlocked with Topher’s Key.

If you were too busy fighting Big Bruno, you may not have noticed that the owner of the apartment, Topher Ugowat, is dead in a pool of blood near the entrance.

However, some players have reported that they don’t see the body, only the blood pool. Unfortunately, it’s due to a bug where his body, alongside the items on him, vanished for some unknown reason.

At the time of writing, there is no fix to this issue. Maybe Bethesda will drop a fix in the upcoming patches.

So, if you see Topher’s body, you can find a few aid items, credits, and Topher’s Key.

Collect all the items of his corpse and use the key to unlock the safe next to his bed. Don’t worry; he doesn’t need them anymore for obvious reasons.
