Zelda Tears Of The Kingdom Great Sky Island Broken Rail Puzzle allows you to reach a small suspended area in the southern part of the area you’ll get to explore early in the video game developed by Nintendo.

After exiting the Room of Awakening, while playing The Closed Door main quest, you’ll need to reach three Shrines, the last being Gutanbac Shrine.

On your way to the Gutanbac Shrine, you’ll visit the southern region of Great Sky Island going through the Mining Cave.

Once you exit the Mining Cave, you’ll get to a large plateau where you’ll encounter a Korok who needs Link’s help to reach his friend.

By helping the Mining Cave Korok, you’ll eventually get to the southernmost island in Great Sky Island; and if you check the eastern side of your map, you should be able to spot another island that can be reached, provided you know how to cross the Broken Rail.

Or how to solve the Zelda ToTK Great Sky Island Broken Rail Puzzle we’ll explain in the following guide.

Where To Find The Great Sky Island Broken Rail In Zelda ToTK

On the map below, you can see the exact location of the Broken Rail in Zelda Tears Of The Kingdom.

You can see that the said rail connects the island where you transport the Korok found on the Mining Cave plateau to the northeastern island.

Reaching the eastern island is not part of the story, but there are some cool rewards and items you’ll most likely need for the upcoming adventure.

So let’s see what you must do to get to the said island.

How To Solve The Zelda Tears Of The Kingdom Broken Track Puzzle

Immediately after reuniting the Korok with his friend, turn around to spot the broken rail. Take a closer look, and while facing the island you want to reach, you’ll notice that the track on the right side is interrupted.

This means that using a mining cart with a fan and placing it on the rail won’t work because you’ll fall when you reach the broken section.

Thus you’ll have to use a mining cart that doesn’t require the right side of the track. Or a suspended mining cart.

So, look around the Korok Camp and first find a mining cart. Activate Link’s Ultrahand ability and attach a Zonai Fan device to the cart you have discovered. You should be able to spot multiple fans nearby.

After attaching the fan, you also need to attach a hook but make sure to place it according because you’ll want to hang the hook to the left (unbroken) rail.

Finally, use the Ultrahand, carry the suspended mining cart to the railway, and hang it on the left rail, as shown below.

Now, jump inside and hit the fan to power up the suspended cart, transporting Link to the island in the distance.

On this specific island, make sure you find the following items of interest:

  • Zonai Charge – On top of the hill where the cart stops
  • 2 Zonai Charges – Near the small temple on the lower plateau
  • Portable Pot – Inside the chest in the ruins

Furthermore, there are also several crafting and cooking materials you’ll want to get from this island.

Last but not least, to return to the previous island where the Korok camp is found, you have to use the Ultrahand and rotate the cart accordingly. Then jump inside and hit the fan to make the cart move.

And that’s it! Now you know how to reach the southern island behind the broken mining track, so feel free to ask all your questions in the comments section below.
