Diablo 4 Reject the Mother is a Dry Steppes side-quest you can start in the Tusmaa Rift area of the video game developed by Blizzard Entertainment.

Reject the Mother quest will have you shout your rejection of Lilith at her hidden shrine in Tusmaa Rift, which can be tricky if you can’t figure out what you must do exactly.

Note that in Tusmaa Rift, you can also pick up the No Deed Unpunished quest, which, just like Reject the Mother, counts as one of the 38 Dry Steppes side-quests.

Now provided you want to achieve 100% completion in the Dry Steppes region, make sure to check the following walkthrough and learn how to complete D4 Reject the Mother side-quest quickly.

How To Start Reject the Mother Quest in Diablo 4

To make the side-quest available, you must progress with the story and complete the Whittling Sanity main-quest in Act 3.

Then you need to make your way to the Tusmaa Rift area east of Ked Bardu town and look for the Thorn Note in Abaharu Canyon.

On the D4 map below, we’ve marked the exact location of the note; thus, look over it if needed.

To quickly reach Tusmaa Rift, you can fast travel to the Ked Bardu Waypoint and then ride your mount to cover the rest of the distance.

Of course, this can only be done if you have the Ked Bardu Waypoint and mount unlocked. If not, start running.

When you reach the spot, you’ll find the Torn Note trampled into the dirt next to some rocks, and if you interact with it, you get the following message:

Shout your rejection, “no Mother of mine” at her towering statue in rift’s hidden shrine.

Be aware that a lot of mobs spawn from time to time in the area, so deal with them if they get in the way.

Now let’s see how we can continue and reject Lilith at her secret shrine.

Upon closing the Torn Note and defeating any nearby mobs, you can open your map to see the quest’s search area to the north, also in Tusmaa Rift, as shown in the next screenshot.

Once you get to the place, you’ll find Lilith’s statue next to the entrance to the Dark Ravine dungeon.

Defeat the enemies around, if any, because you don’t want them to annoy you.

Then you must position yourself in front of the statue and perform the No Emote.

The problem is that this Emote is not equipped by default.

As such, press Up on your PlayStation/Xbox Dpad (- GameClubz/- GameClubz), then press - GameClubz/- GameClubz to open the customization menu, select the No Emote from the list, press - GameClubz/- GameClubz, find an empty slot (use - GameClubz/- GameClubz and - GameClubz/- GameClubz if needed), and finally press - GameClubz/- GameClubz to assign the Emote.

Close the menu by pressing - GameClubz/- GameClubz, then - GameClubz/- GameClubz to save the changes.

Now you need to actually perform the Emote by pressing Up on the Dpad again, selecting No from the list (use - GameClubz/- GameClubz and - GameClubz/- GameClubz if required), and pressing - GameClubz/- GameClubz to confirm.

Then, all you have to do to complete Diablo 4 Reject Mother quest is to open the Heretic’s Chest that just spawned to the right. Apart from the loot you obtain from the chest, you get Renown points, XP, and Gold. Also, if you’re up for more action, you can start another Dry Steppes side-quest, like Sentimental Value.
