Diablo IV Secret of the Spring: How To Solve the Note Riddle

Secret of the Spring is a very short Diablo IV side-quest you can complete early in the video game published by Blizzard Entertainment, provided you know how to solve the Note Riddle found northeast of Kyovashad.

Unlike other side-quests, Diablo 4 Secret of the Spring doesn’t involve dungeons and bosses, except those you may encounter while looking for the Discarded Note or the item required to start this quest.

While short, Diablo IV Secret of the Spring is a side-quest that can become problematic if you don’t know what you have to do, so throughout the following walkthrough, we’ll guide you to the location of the Note Riddle, and we’ll explain how to solve the puzzle involving the small pond in Fractured Peaks.

How To Start the Secret of the Spring Quest in Diablo IV

As an early quest, D4 Secret of the Spring can be tackled immediately after entering Kyovashad and completing the prologue.

To be able to start it, first, you have to find the Discarded Note, which is a piece of paper on top of a hill north of Kyovashad. You can see its location on the map below.

Travel to the location within the Kylsic Plateau area and start looking around for a piece of paper on the ground.

Unlike other quest items, the Discarded Note isn’t dropped by mobs. It sits near a wooden structure on top of a snowy hill, as you can see below.

Upon picking up the Discarded Note, you can read it and find the Note Riddle. It reads:

“Beacon of warmth in winter’s embrace, patience rewarded by nature’s own grace.”

Now, if you open your map, you’ll notice that the next objective for the Secret of the Spring Diablo 4 quest is found northeast of your current location.

So, make haste to the area marked on your map by a blue circle.

How To Solve the Note Riddle in Diablo 4 Secret of the Spring

Upon reaching the area marked on your map, look around to spot a pond or a small lake if you want.

To solve the Note Riddle in Diablo IV, you must use the Wait Emote while standing next to the pond. This quest is fairly similar to the Raising Spirits, except that this time you have to use another Emote.

As you can guess, it must be equipped first:

• Press Up on your PlayStation/Xbox Dpad (/)

• Now select an empty slot from your Action Wheel. If needed, press / or / to access additional Action Wheels

• Upon selecting an empty slot, press / to customize it

• From the list of Emotes, select Wait and press / to assign it to the empty slot

• Save your changes 

Great job! Now, press Up again and pick the Wait Emote, but make sure you are standing near the pond. 

If done correctly, you’ll notice a chest spawning near the pond. Open it, and the Secret of the Spring quest is complete.
