Tarnished Amulet is a hidden quest in the Dry Steppes region of Diablo 4, in which you’ll have to locate a quest item with the same name and bring it to an NPC in Jirandai.
You probably already figured out that a particular type of enemy in the Dry Steppes region randomly drops the Tarnished Amulet quest item.
We’ve previously completed these types of side quests in the Scosglen region, such as Braega’s Chronicles or The Wrong Hands.
Therefore, in the following Diablo IV guide, we will provide you with all the information you need to find the Tarnished Amulet and complete the side quest.
How To Start the Tarnished Amulet Quest in Diablo 4
Starting the Tarnished Amulet side quest in Diablo 4 does not require any specific requirements to be met. Simply locate the quest item to initiate the side quest.
To find the Tarnished Amulet, kill the Cannibals (Cleavers) in the Untamed Scarps subregion of Dry Steppes until one of them drops it.

The best location to farm Cannibals for the quest item is in the Galtmaa Bushland area, northwest of the Jirandai waypoint.
Check the image below for the exact location. There is always a World Event taking place here, spawning waves of Cannibals for you to slay.

Where To Find the Yinsuk Shrine in Diablo IV
After one of them drops the Tarnished Amulet quest item, fast-travel to the Jirandai waypoint and speak with Gesur in front of the Yinsuk Tree.
He believes the amulet belonged to a traveler and decides to place it with other offerings, hoping it will provide safety for future travelers.

As a reward for bringing the Tarnished Amulet to the Yinsuk Shrine, you’ll receive 20 Renown Points for the Dry Steppes region, XP, Gold, and an Elixir Cache.
However, if you want to complete all the remaining side quests in the region, check out our Dry Steppes side quests locations guide.
