Threads of Envy is the final Diablo 4 side quest in the Sodden Pact questline available while exploring Scosglen, the second region in the video game developed by Blizzard Entertainment and released on June 6, 2023.

Diablo 4 Threads of Envy follows the events of the previous quest named Untangling Truths, during which, alongside Roina, you discover the lair of the Water Wight that keeps killing people around the coast.

Now, it’s time to find the Water Wight’s identity and deal with the monster; thus, our Diablo IV Threads of Envy walkthrough below explains all the steps you must follow to complete the Sodden Pact questline.

How To Start the Threads of Envy Quest in Diablo 4

Like the previous two quests in the Sodden Pact, Threads of Envy starts automatically after completing the Untangling Truths.

As you may remember, at the end of the said quest, with your help, Roina learns the location of the Water Wight, which is north of the druid site near Linnead, as you can see below.

Diablo 4 Threads of Envy requires your presence on the northern coast of the Northshore area.

Before moving forward with the current quest, it’s worth knowing that the location you are about to visit is the same as the one where you find Benen during A Briny Fate side-quest and the same area where you can find the Warded Sailor’s Vessel.

Assuming you are interested only in the current quest, head towards the northern island marked on the map above and look for Roina in front of a shipwreck. Talk to her and then enter the Mithering Descent dungeon.

How Where To Find the Diablo 4 Water Wight in Mithering Descent

Diablo 4 Mithering Descent is one of the linear dungeons, meaning that there is only one tunnel you have to follow, so it’s pretty impossible to get lost inside the instance.

Take your time dealing with the Drowned you encounter; then, you’ll find the Water Wight at the end of the dungeon.

The Water Wight is waiting for you at the end of the Mithering Descent Dungeon

Before fighting the Water Wight, you’ll find the truth about the monster you are hunting, and as you probably assumed, it is Roina’s mother.

Speak to Roina, then get ready to deal with the Sodden Effigy. As you are about to see, this mini-boss is relatively weak because the Sodden Effigy won’t attack you. Instead, Roina’s mother will spawn several Sodden Growth totems that grant her invulnerability.

Destroy the Sodde Growths first; then, the Effigy will be an easy target.

Once you kill the Water Wight, grab and read the Mold Spotted Journal dropped by Roina’s mother. Now talk to Roina, who will want to meet you in Marowen.

Fast-travel to Moarwen and look for her on the cliff overseeing the northwestern coast. Finally, the truth is revealed, and Roina tells you that Cecil was her father, and even though her mother loved him when she turned into a Wight, he was her last victim.

Aside from Gold, XP, and Renown Points, for completing Diablo 4 Threads of Envy and the Sodden Path questline, you’ll also receive Roina’s Heirloom Amulet.
