Diablo 4 The Unlucky Ones is a kill quest in which you help Nayan, the only guard assigned to watch the western gate of Alzuuda town.
The male NPC just wants a quiet shift and offers you half of his pay if you aid him; however, you must kill a lot of zombies to do so and complete the quest.
The Unlucky Ones also counts as one of the 38 Dry Steppes side-quests, and you’ll need to finish all of them if you’re a completionist.
Therefore, throughout the following walkthrough, we’ll provide instructions on how to complete D4 Unlucky Ones side-quest.
How To Start The Unlucky Ones Quest in Diablo 4
To start the quest, it’s not necessary to meet any special requirement; you just have to get to the quest giver in The Scarred Coast area of the Dry Steppes region.
Dry Steppes is the Act 3 region, so you must progress with the main story until you get to it.
The fastest way to get to Nayan, the quest giver, is to use the Waypoint in the town of Alzuuda, provided you’ve already unlocked it.
Then exit the town through the western gate, and you’ll come across the NPC; you can’t miss him.
Just in case you are having a hard time finding Nayan, we’ve marked his exact location on the D4 map below.
While talking to the NPC, you’ll learn that he is a tired unlucky guard who just wants to have a quiet shift, especially considering he is all alone.
He gets paid very well, but coins will be of no use to him if he’s dead; thus, he offers half of his pay to you if you help him out.
As always, you’re the nice hero and decide to accept. The money is a good incentive as well.
Where To Find the Zombies in Diablo 4
To continue, you have to complete a pretty straightforward objective, and that is to slay 50 zombies along the Scarred Coast.
If you open your map, you can see the zombies marked with red dots.
You can also see a search area for the quest to the north, which honestly serves no purpose because you can slay the zombies anywhere in the Scarred Coast area to get credit for the objective.
The zombies are pretty easy to take out, and for an optimal approach, we suggest you run around and gather them into bigger groups so you don’t waste time killing them one by one, just like in the next screenshot.
Once you’ve slayed 50 zombies, you must return to Nayan and give him the great news just as he finishes his shift.
That’s all, Nephalem! You’ve managed to finish Diablo 4 Unlucky Ones and got the following rewards: Gold, XP, Renown points, and a Salvage Cache. You can now focus on other Dry Steppes side-quests, like Weight of Sin.
