Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Kiuyoyou Shrine – Fire And Ice is one of the shrines in the Hyrule Ridge region and features some tricky puzzles that will require you to think outside the box.
Kiuyoyou Shrine is all about playing with – as the name challenge suggests – Fire and Ice to navigate through and complete all the puzzles within.
But in order to complete the Kiuyoyou Shrine, you’ll need the Ultrahand Ability, which is unlocked in the Ukouh Shrine during The Closed Door main quest.
Therefore, in the following Legend of Zelda ToTK guide, we will cover how to locate the Kiuyoyou Shrine, how to solve all the puzzles within, and how to grab all the treasures inside.
Where To Find The Tears Of The Kingdom Kiuyoyou Shrine
Kiuyoyou Shrine is located in the northeastern part of the Hyrule Ridge and northeast of Lindor’s Brow Skyview Tower.
The exact map coordinates of the Kiuyoyou Shrine are -1106, 2090, 0104.
To reach its location, follow the main road to the northeast of the Sinakawak Shrine, which is near the New Serenne Stable, and you’ll see the shrine on the left side of the road.
Now let’s see how to solve all the puzzles with the Kiuyoyou Shrine in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom.
How To Complete The Legend Of Zelda Kiuyoyou Shrine Puzzle
As you enter the initial section of the Kiuyoyou Shrine, you will notice some Flame Emitters spitting fire on your right side. On the left, there is a large closed gate along with a large ice block under a bigger tube.
To begin solving the puzzle, grab the big ice cube with the Ultrahand Ability and hold it under the flames from the Flame Emitters for a few seconds until it reduces in size.
Be cautious not to leave it in the fire for too long, or it will melt. After it has shrunk a bit, remove it from the flames.
While facing the large closed gate, you should see a small pressure plate on the right-hand side.
Place the smaller ice cube on this pressure plate to open the large gate permanently. Even if you remove the ice cube, the gate will remain open.
In the next section of the Kiuyoyou Shrine, you’ll notice a platform on your left side tucked into an opening in the wall. This platform contains a treasure chest, but it’s not yet accessible. However, we’ll return to it shortly, so there is no need to worry.
On the room’s right side, there’s an updraft that you can use to glide to the next area by riding your Paraglider.
Over here, you will notice the same Flame Emitters continuously spitting fire from the wall on the left, with large ice blocks being dropped from the tube above straight into the fire.
While facing the flames, you should see a large stone panel lying against the wall on the right.
Use the Ultrahand Ability to move and rotate the stone panel until it can be used to block the flames emerging from the wall, as shown in the image below.
After blocking the flames, wait for the next large ice cube to drop. If you still have a small ice cube in the dropping area, the bigger one may not appear.
In such a scenario, it’s recommended to toss the smaller ice cube over the edge into the chasm between the spike ramp and updraft. Once it’s gone, the larger cube should drop from the tube.
Once you have the bigger ice cube, grab it with the Ultrahand and place it on the platform where you’re currently standing.
Ensure that it’s positioned a safe distance away from the flames before moving the stone panel with the Ultrahand Ability. After that, attach the stone panel to the top of the ice cube.
Then, pick up the ice cube with the stone panel on top, drop it onto the spike slope, and watch its smooth descent to the previous area.
To return to the previous lower area, jump off the edge between the updraft and the spike slope and activate the Paraglider to glide back down.
It’s finally time to grab the treasure chest (we didn’t forget!). Use the Ultrahand Ability to unstick the stone panel and the big ice cube. Move the stone panel into the first room with the flames for now.
Grab the big ice cube and place it on the first platform just below the treasure chest. Check the image below for visual reference.
Now, go underneath this platform and use the Ascend Ability to emerge on top of the ice cube. Open the treasure chest to receive a Zonaite Spear.
Once you are done here, go back down and reattach the big ice cube with the stone panel on top as before.
If you want to open the gate leading to the altar, you’ll have to activate the pressure plate concealed by the flames.
To do this, pick up the ice cube with the stone panel on top and place it on the pressure plate, as shown in the image below.
If you accidentally melt the ice cube, grab the smaller one from the other pressure plate that you used to open the large gate and throw it over the edge into the chasm to spawn another one from the nearby tube.
Attach the stone panel on top of the new ice cube and try again.
After you activate the pressure plate, go through the door and interact with the green sigil to complete Kiuyoyou Shrine and get your Light of Blessing as a reward in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom.
