Wo Long Fallen Dynasty Shadow Of The Sacred Mountain is the first Sub Battlefield unlocked after In Search of the Immortal Wizard Main Battlefield while playing Part 3 Corruption in the action role-playing video game developed by Team Ninja and published by Koei Tecmo.
Shadow Of The Sacred Mountain Battlefield takes place in the same area you explored during In Search of the Immortal Wizard, but this time around, you’ll be moving backward, your starting point being the lake area. Since this Sub Battlefield is smaller than the main mission, you’ll only need to activate 5 Flags and find a single collectible.
The Sub Battlefield includes one boss that’s more accessible than the Aoye, but you may still want to summon a companion to help you overcome the demons you are about to fight. The side mission starts in the lake area before the path leading up the mountain and to the corrupted cave.
As usual, you’ll automatically activate the first Battle Flag upon your arrival, so use it to restock on arrows and knives and to summon your companions.
Marking Flag #1
Now, from your starting location, while facing the flag, turn left to spot a glowing loot spot on the mountain wall above the water. Climb the wall to get 1 Small Genuine Qi Clot.
Return to the flag, then while facing it, turn right to spot another loot spot on top of the stone pillar. Go around the pillar, jump on the lower ledge, and climb to the top. From here, jump to the second one to get the Dragon’s Cure Powder.
Head back to the Battle Flag now and move down the river, but hug the left side. After reaching the other side of the small path, deal with the wolf first, then pay attention to the Shuigui mermaid patrolling the water.
Be careful with this enemy because it’s not the regular version of the Shuigui you defeated earlier but an empowered one. It hits harder, and it’s more resilient but just as fast as the regular mermaids. So start the fight with an attack from behind and deflect her Critical Blows.
After dealing with her, follow the river, and you’ll encounter a regular Shuigui. Next to her, but on the right side, you’ll see a loot spot containing 1 Small Genuine Qi Clot.
Once you deal with the mermaid, head towards the woods, not the stairs, then quickly dispatch the Huoshu rats, dodging when they get ready to explode. Now, you’ll want to check the bushes on top of the stone in the small clearing to contain a Bear Gall.
Awesome! Return to the river now and head towards the stairs, but before moving up, turn right to spot some withered bamboo you can cut down to reveal a hidden area where you’ll need to deal with some Huoshu rats. While weak, these demons can become problematic if you forget to dodge them when they get ready to explode.
Kill both of them, then check the small area for a chest containing 1 Elixir. Retrace your steps back to the stairs now, and you’ll notice a new type of enemy in the next clearing. The Demon Spiders are pretty weak against ranged attacks, so don’t get near them. Instead, shoot them, and when you enter the clearing, turn right to see a loot spot containing 1 Genuine Qi Fragment.
Now, climb the stone in the middle of the clearing, and you’ll find the first Shadow Of The Sacred Mountain Marking Flag. On the left side (pictured below), on top of the pillar, is another loot spot.
To get to it, double jump on the right side while facing the stone bridge ahead. The loot spot provides 2 Rank 3 Steel.
Battle Flag #2
From your current location, head across the stone bridge, looting the Detox Jerky on the other side. Now, you’ll reach a large clearing with a small temple in the middle. The only enemies you’ll encounter here are some Huoshu rats and a Changgui tiger.
Lure the rats towards the bridge by shooting them, then sneak behind the tiger and deal with him. When you enter the clearing, on the right side, you’ll see the second Shadow Of The Sacred Mountain Marking Flag marked below.
Marking Flag #2
After you activate the second Battle Flag, check the small pagoda in the clearing and get the 3 Rank 3 Steel from the loot spot on the ground.
Now, behind the temple, on the left side, while facing it, you’ll see some stairs leading to a secluded area. Here, you’ll want to sneak behind the sleeping Changgui tiger and deal with him to open the Treasure Chest nearby and claim the Rank 2 Club of Polaris +1.
Retrace your steps back to the previous Battle Flag now, and continue down the forest path on the left side, shooting the Demon Spider on the tree in the distance.
On the left side of the path, you’ll see a small shack. Make sure you inspect it and feed the cute Shitieshou Panda Bear one of the items you no longer need by dropping it from your inventory while standing in front of the bear.
Next, follow the path ahead and loot the red Treasure Chest before turning right. As you push forward, cutting the withered bamboo trees, you’ll encounter another Huoshu rat; then, you’ll see the third Marking Flag.
Battle Flag #3
Now, get ready for two enemies you’ll need to deal with before finding the third Battle Flag. Form the last Marker Flag, follow the path ahead, and you’ll get to the river. Here, you’ll want to be cautious because, as you can see in the screenshot below, there is a Zhuyan monkey (1) patrolling the area and a Huoshu rat (2) waiting to charge.
The best approach here is to lure the monkey towards you, up the narrow path close to the last Marking Flag. This way, you’ll stop the monkey from moving too much. After you deal with the monkey, head toward the rat but take the left path to sneak behind two wolves.
Now, cut the bamboo trees behind the second wolf, loot the 3 Crossbow Quarrels, then turn right and jump to the area behind the rat. From here, climb the stone on the right side and perform an aerial attack on the Huoshu rat. Finally, loot the Rank 2 Yellow-Shouldered Crossbow and the Rank 3 Ring Pommel Sabre +1 before activating the last Battle Flag up the river (also marked above).
How to Defeat Suanyu in the Shadow of the Sacred Mountain
To fight the final boss and complete the Shadow Of The Sacred Mountain Battlefield from the last Battle Flag, simply follow the river. Suanyu is one of the accessible bosses in Wo Long Fallen Dynasty, and if you play with two companions, they’ll easily overpower the demon beast.
The boss is pretty similar to the mini-boss you fought during Valley Of Crying Wraiths, meaning that you’ll want to avoid the lightning attacks and also deflect the critical blows. If you want to deal with this boss faster, get two companions, and they’ll do the hard work for you.
