Diablo 4 Beast’s Challenge is the second side-quest available in the Bear Tribe Refuge village you’ll explore during the first act in the latest game developed by Blizzard Entertainment.
Alongside Shattered Tribute and Hammer of the Champion, Diablo IV Beast’s Challenge quest is required to unlock the Call of the Ancients.
However, before starting the Hammer of the Champion, you must find and kill Kauller the Collector and bring his head to Greganoch.
To help you with this task, our D4 Beast’s Challenge walkthrough explains where to find the elite mob, Kauller the Collector, and how to use his head.
How To Start the Beast’s Challenge Quest in Diablo 4
To begin the side-quest named Beast’s Challenge, all you need to do is complete the Prologue in Fractured Peaks, then explore the northern side of Fractured Peaks.
As you discover new areas, you’ll eventually find a small settlement named Bear Tribe Refuge at the location on our map below.

Inside the village, one of the two quests available during your first visit is Beast’s Challenge.
To trigger it, talk to Greganoch, a Bear Tribe warrior standing next to a trophy display. On the wooden pole behind Greganoch, you should see several Khazra heads.
Ask him about the display behind him, and he’ll tell you that the trophies behind him are used to honor the ancients.
To complete the display, however, Greganoch needs one more skull. Specifically, the one belonging to Kauller the Collector, an elite goatman, you are about to face. Let’s see where you can find Kauller the Collector.
Where To Find Kauller the Collector in Diablo 4
In Diablo 4, Kauller the Collector is found north of the Bear Tribe Refuge settlement in Fractured Peaks. After starting the quest, you’ll notice a large search area.
Head to the blue area on your map, then check the northern side. You can see Kauller the Collector’s location marked on the following map.

Kauller the Collector is an Elite Khazra, bigger than the normal goatmen. He also hits quite hard, and it has random resistance to various elements.
Defeating him, however, is mandatory because you’ll need to claim his head, which is a guaranteed drop. Make sure you collect it once you deal with Kauller.

After obtaining the head of Kauller the Collector, head back to the Bear Tribe Refuge and talk to Greganoch, who will allow you to place it on his display.
Mount the head of Kauller by interacting with the wooden display behind Greganoch, and the Beast’s Challenge quest is complete.
After finishing this quest, make sure you check our Diablo 4 Fractured Peaks side quests locations guide if you want to get 100% completion in the first region of the game, as well as our Fractured Peaks hidden quests guide, which reveals the locations of the quests that don’t get marked on your map.
