After you bring the Maui, shapeshifter, demigod of the wind and sea, and hero to all to your Disney Dreamlight Valley Village, during the A Worthy Feast Of A Demigod quest, he will tell you about burying the Eel and growing a coconut tree out of it.
But, before you can try to catch and bury an eel, you will need to craft a Fishing Trap using Softwood and Worms. Softwood is easy to find, but you might struggle to find Worms.
So, in the following guide, we will explain where to find the materials to craft the Fishing Trap, how to catch an eel, and complete the Burying The Eel quest in Disney Dreamlight Valley.
How To Complete Disney Dreamlight Valley Burying The Eel Quest
All of the steps for completing each part of the Burying The Eel quest in Disney Dreamlight Valley are as follows:
- Talk to Maui to initiate the quest (Lv. 2 Friendship required)
- Talk to Goofy
- Gather Worms (x3) and Softwood (x8)
- Craft a Fishing Trap
- Place the Fishing Trap near the dock on Dazzle Beach
- Talk to Maui
- Catch an Eel attracted by the bait in the Fishing Trap
- Bring the Eel to Maui
- Bury the Eel at the Beach
- Tend to the crop until it grows into a Coconut Tree
- Harvest the Coconut from the new Coconut Tree
- Bring the Coconut to Maui
After you reach Friendship Level 2 with Maui, talk to him to start the quest. He will explain the process of burying Eels in order for coconut trees to grow. Then, he sends you to Goofy to teach you how to catch an Eel.
Once you speak to Goofy, he will explain that in order to catch some Eels, you’re going to need a trap. But, to craft this trap, you will need to gather some items first: Worms (x3) and Softwood (x8).
How To Craft a Fishing Trap In Burying The Eel
Softwood can be found scattered all over the Plaza and Peaceful Meadow. They look like a couple of branches on top of each other. Search these areas and pick up 8 pieces of Softwood.
The Worms can be found under the dig spots near the three ponds in Peaceful Meadow. Equip your shovel from the tools menu and start digging these spots around the ponds.

Remember that these drops are not guaranteed, and you can still get coal or other items. Just keep digging around the ponds.
After you have gathered all the required materials, go to a crafting station (next to Goofy’s house), select the Furniture tab, and craft the Fishing Trap.

How To Catch An Eel
Now, head to the dock on Dazzle Beach (near Goofy’s stall) and place the Fishing Trap at the end of the dock.
To place it in the water, open the inventory menu, select the Furniture tab, go to Maui and select the Fishing Trap.

Go to Maui to let him know that you placed the Fishing Trap, and he’ll tell you to wait for an Eel to appear.
Return to the docks and check for an orange bubbling fishing circle. Once an Eel is nearby your trap, this orange circle will appear (check the image below).

Equip your Fishing Rod from the tools menu and cast the line to pull that Eel out of the water.
Once you have the Eel in your inventory, return to Maui and bring him the Eel.
He will congratulate you, and then you’ll have to bury the Eel on the Beach.
Equip your shovel, choose a spot on the Beach and dig a hole. Plant the Eel and water the sprouting.

After a couple of minutes, harvest the full-grown Coconut Tree and bring the Coconut to Maui. This completes the Burying The Eel quest and allows Coconut Trees to grow naturally on the Beach.
Also, after you reach Friendship Level 4 with Maui, you can begin the next quest in line named A Tale Of Stone And Fire.
And that’s it! Congratulations on completing Burying The Eel quest in the video game developed by Gameloft for PC, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation platforms.
