Disney Dreamlight Valley Critters are adorable wild creatures in your Village that you can feed to receive different rewards.
Also, if you feed them enough, you can turn them into your companions who will follow you wherever you go.
But, to turn them into companions, earn daily loot and obtain Dreamlight from daily duties and achievements, you’ll need to know how to approach the critters and what they love to eat.
So, follow this guide to learn where to find and how to approach the Critters, their favorite food, and how to turn them into cute companions in Disney Dreamlight Valley.
How To Feed Disney Dreamlight Valley Critters
The eight Disney Dreamlight Valley Critters can be found in their respective biomes, but only two variants of each critter will spawn each day. In the table below, you will find all the Critters available during Early Acces, where to find them, and their variants.
No. | Critter | Location | Variants |
1. | Squirrel | Plaza | Black, Classic, Grey, Red, White |
2. | Bunny | Peaceful Meadow | Black, Brown, Calico, Classic, White |
3. | Sea Turtle | Dazzle Beach | Black, Brown, Classic, Purple, White |
4. | Raccoon | Forest of Valor | Black, Blue, Classic, Red, White |
5. | Crocodile | Glade of Trust | Blue, Classic, Golden, Pink, Red, White |
6. | Foxes | Frosted Heights | Black, Blue, Classic, Red, White |
7. | Sunbird | Sunlit Plateau | Emerald, Golden, Orchid, Red, Turquoise |
8. | Raven | Forgotten Lands | Blue, Brown, Classic, Red, White |
You can feed each animal once every 24 hours. If you attempt to feed them earlier than that, you will not see the Approach prompt above their head.

After you feed a critter its Favorite Food or something it likes, you will receive a reward, usually a Motif Bag or Dreamlight Shards, but you can also receive other useful items.
There are also a few achievements for feeding critters that will reward you with Dreamlight to unlock more biomes and realms.
Last but not least, you can make these critters your companions, but you’ll have to earn their trust. We will explain at the end of this Disney Dreamlight Valley guide how you can do that.
So, following the same order as in the table above, we will go over all eight Disney Dreamlight Valley Critters and explain how to approach and feed them their favorite food.
How To Feed Squirrels Their Favorite Food
Squirrels can be found around Plaza, and they are pretty easy to spot because they are hungry tiny creatures.
To feed the Squirrels, just walk straight up to them and interact with them when you see the Approach prompt above their head.

You can feed the Squirrels with any fruit or nuts, but their Favorite Food is Peanuts.
To obtain Peanuts, you must bring Remy from the Ratatouille Realm to your Village by completing An Important Night At The Restaurant quest.
Then you will have to progress his Friendship Quests until you complete the Remy’s Recipe Book quest to unlock the Peanuts for 200 Star Coins in his restaurant, Chez Remy.

How To Approach And Feed Rabbits Their Favorite Food
Rabbits can be found around Peaceful Meadow, and they are playful critters that will run away when you approach them.
When you try to approach a Rabbit, it will bounce up and down several times, then run away from you. As you follow them, they will stop after a short distance, jump up and down and flee again.
Follow the Rabbit three times; eventually, it will allow you to approach and feed it.

You can feed the Rabbits any vegetable, but their Favorite Food is Carrots.
Carrots are available for purchase at Goofy’s Stall in Peaceful Meadow.
If you don’t see the Carrots listed there, fully upgrade Goofy’s Stall, buy Carrot Seeds for 10 Star Coins, plant them and wait 15 minutes until they grow to be able to harvest.

Sea Turtle Favorite Food
Sea Turtles can be found around Dazzle Beach, and they are shy tiny critters that will hide inside their shell when you get near them.
What you can do is wait for a couple of seconds near it to build trust between you and the Sea Turtle.
In less than 10 seconds, the Sea Turtle will pop its head out, allowing you to approach it.

You can feed the Sea Turtles with Shellfish, but their Favorite Food is Seaweed.
Seaweed can be gathered by fishing at random locations around Disney Dreamlight Valley, avoiding the colored fishing spots.
How To Feed Raccoons Their Favorite Food
Raccoons can be found around Forest of Valor, and they are skittish critters that will flee if they are approached too fast.
To approach a Raccoon, you must be very patient and precise with your movement to avoid scaring it off.
When you see that the Raccoon has stopped running, you immediately stop as well. Then, the Raccoon will lift up on its toes to look around for 2 seconds, so don’t move at any cost to avoid alerting it.
After eagerly looking around, the Raccoon will lower its body for 1 second, and that’s your chance to get closer before it lifts up on its toes again. From my personal experience, to avoid scaring it off, try getting closer with one or two steps.
When you are close enough to the Raccoon, it will sit down and give you the chance to approach it.

Approaching Raccoons is difficult, so don’t be discouraged if it takes several attempts before you succeed.
You can feed the Raccoons with any fruit, but their Favorite Food is Blueberry. Also, Blueberries can be gathered from wild crops (bushes) in Dazzle Beach or the Forest of Valor.
How To Feed Crocodiles Their Favorite Food
Crocodiles can be found around Glade of Trust, and, similar to Raccoons, they are skittish critters who will run if you approach them too quickly.
The Crocodile acts similarly to the Raccoon. When you see a crocodile standing still, watch his head movement to figure out when you can get closer or stand still.
To get closer, wait for it to lower its head and don’t move when its head is up and looking around. Like the Raccoons, avoid making more than two steps, so you don’t scare it off.
When you are close enough to the Crocodile, it will lay down on its belly so you can approach it.

You can feed the Crocodiles with shellfish, but their Favorite Food is Lobsters.
Lobsters are a rare type of seafood that can be obtained by fishing in the orange-bubbling fishing spots in Glade of Trust.

Foxes Favorite Food
Foxes can be found around Frosted Heights, and, similar to the Rabbits, they are playful critters that will run away from you when you first approach them.
As a result, you’ll have to chase these naughty critters a few times before they stop and allow you to approach them.
When a Fox is ready to be approached, it will sit down, and the Approach prompt will appear above its head.

You can feed the Foxes with any fish, but their Favorite Food is White Sturgeon.
White Sturgeon is a rare type of fish that can be acquired by fishing in the orange-bubbling fishing spots in Frosted Heights.

What’s The Favorite Food For Sunbirds
Sunbirds can be found around the Sunlit Plateau, and they are cute, tiny, and friendly critters that flap their wings so quickly.
There is nothing tricky about approaching a Sunbird; just simply get close enough to a Sunbird until you are able to see the Approach prompt.

You can feed the Sunbirds with any Flowers, but what makes Sunbirds different from the other critters in Disney Dreamlight Valley is that every color variation of Sunbird has its own unique Favorite Food, so check the list below:
- Emerald Sunbird – Green Passion Lily, found around Frosted Heights
- Golden Sunbird – Sunflower, found around Dazzle Beach
- Orchid Sunbird – Orange Houseleek, found around Sunlit Plateau
- Red Sunbird – Red Bromeliad, also found around Sunlit Plateau
- Turquoise Sunbird – Pink Houseleek, also found around Sunlit Plateau
To distinguish the Sunbirds, go to the Collection menu, select the Critters tab on the left and take a look at each Sunbird to learn what they look like to avoid feeding a Sunbird the wrong favorite food.

Where To Find Ravens
Disney Dreamlight Valley Ravens are the only critters we don’t know anything about in the Early Acces of the game, except that they can be found in Forgotten Lands.
Once Gameloft releases more information about the Ravens’ schedule, we’ll update this guide with all the information as soon as we find out.

How To Equip A Critter As Companion
To unlock the Critters in the Collection menu, as well as companions, all you have to do is to feed each critter variant twice, and it doesn’t matter if it’s their Favorite Food or something they generally like/eat.
Remember that each different-colored critter is considered a distinct variant. For example, feeding the Gray Squirrel twice will cause it to appear in your collection.
After you unlock a critter in the Collection menu, all you have to do to equip them is open your Inventory, head to your Wardrobe and access the Companion tab. Then, pick the critter you want at your side to follow you around.

And that’s how you feed the Critters in Disney Dreamlight Valley. If you have any questions or suggestions, leave them in the comments below.
