Updated December 8, 2022

In God Of War Ragnarok, Casualty of War: The Brooch is another fetch quest that requires some exploration so that you can find the other half of the Brooch for Holger in The Crater Plains area of Vanaheim.

Unlike all other God Of War Ragnarok Casualties of War we have covered, The Brooch Casualty of War is less complicated but involves a mini-boss fight.

Furthermore, for the God Of War Ragnarok Casualty of War: The Brooch Favour, you may want to flood The Plains area, as we’ll explain below.

So if you wonder where to find the other half of the Brooch, we’ll guide you to its location throughout the following God Of War Ragnarok Casualty of War Brooch walkthrough.

How To Start Casualty of War: The Brooch In The Vanaheim Plains

Before starting The Brooch Casualty of War in GoW Ragnarok, it’s best to complete several Favours that will make navigation easier.

The first one is For Vanaheim Favour explained in this guide, because it allows you to unlock the Western Plains Mystic Gateway and the Celestial Altar.

Then you’ll want to focus on Return of the River Side Quest and flood The Plains area we’ve covered here, so you can easily navigate to the eastern side. Or cross the river if you want.

And finally, you may want to find the treasure map named A Scar Is Born because the Brooch is quite close to it.

When ready, you’ll have to find Holger, and as you know, he appears whenever you find one of the Brooch’s Halves.

Let’s start with the most accessible one found by the river’s eastern shore. Specifically at the location marked on the map below.

Reaching Holger’s first location is relatively easy once you flood The Plains area because, as you can see on the map above, you can sail between 2 Boat Docks that are very close to each other.

Obviously, you can also fast-travel to the Eastern Plains Mystic Gateway, then head southwest on foot.

Regardless of how you choose to travel, you’ll find Holger close to another purple item on the ground.

As you can see, Holger sits behind a tree, and after you pick up the shiny object in front of him, you’ll start the GoW Casualty of War: The Brooch Favour.

Pay close attention to what Holger says because the story is quite interesting. But as you can probably guess, you’ll need to find the other half of the Brooch if you want to know how it ends.

Where To Find The Brooch Half

To find the other half of the pin from your current location, you’ll need to travel east.

Cross the vast plain area and south of the Eastern Plains Mystic Gateway, you’ll see an unusual structure similar to a tunnel (pictured below).

Inside this tunnel, which leads to The Sinkholes region, you’ll find the A Scar is Born Buried Treasure explained here.

While facing the tunnel above, head right, climb the ledge we have marked, swing across the gap, and turn right again.

Climb one more ledge, and you’ll get to a larger area with a stone in the middle.

Behind the stone, as you can see, is Egil The Oath Guard who is protecting the other half of the jewelry.

Defeating Egil The Oath Guard is mandatory for retrieving the quest item you are looking for; otherwise, you won’t be able to interact with it.

Once you get the Brooch, Holger spawns in front of you to continue his story. Now the God Of War Ragnarok Casualty of War: The Brooch Quest is complete, but you can check our Wiki Hub here to find similar Favours such as the Casualty of War: The Hourglass.
