God Of War Ragnarok Casualty of War: The Scroll is the first of the 5 Casualties of War Quests you can complete in the Vanaheim Crater area, provided you know where to find the other half of the scroll for Runa.

Unlike the Casualty Of War: The Toy and the Casualty of War: The Stein, for example, for the GoW Ragnarok Casualty of War: The Scroll, you don’t need to flood the river by playing the Return of the River Favor.

That’s because both Scroll Halves are on the same side of The Plains. However, after finishing the Scent of Survival Favour and reaching the Crater in Vanaheim, it’s best to focus on the Favour named For Vanaheim! before starting the Casualty Of War: The Scroll Side Quest.

By playing For Vanaheim, you’ll get close to the Western Plains Mystic Gateway and the Western Plains Celestial Altar.

These landmarks will be used as starting points for our God Of War Ragnarok Casualty Of War: The Scroll walkthrough below.

Now let’s see where to find the two Scroll Halves.

How To Start Casualty of War: The Scroll In The Vanaheim Plains

As you probably know, the Casualties of War in God of War Ragnarok are fetch quests you can start by finding one of the two halves of an item.

The order is not important as long as you find both halves.

To start the Casualty Of War: Scroll Favor, you must get the first half of a scroll, so you can trigger the Side Quest.

As such, head to the Western Plains Mystic Gateway, and from the Celestial Altar, head east dropping to the area below.

Now, you’ll want to head north until you reach the edge of the mountain. Below you should be able to see a rather large cave (pictured below).

Get inside the cave; then, after you swing over the second gap, past the red chest, you’ll see a tunnel on the right side.

Once in the tunnel, keep following the linear path, and you’ll eventually find a purple glowing item on the ground.

It counts as one of The Plains Collectibles we’ve covered here and allows you to start the Casualty Of War: The Scroll Side Quest because when you pick it up, Runa will tell you the events that took place in the past.

As usual, you’ll need both halves to continue Runa’s story.

Where To Find The Scroll Half

The other half of the scroll you need for the God Of War Ragnarok Casualty of War: The Scroll Quest is found near the Celestial Altar in the Western Plains.

So, from your current location, exit the tunnel but head right and climb the large wall. Now go to the altar but do not drop to the large area east.

Instead, remain on the upper section and check the northern edge of the mountain. You should see one of the 53 Legendary Chests in the area below and several steps away from it, another glowing item (pictured below).

To get to the other half of the scroll pictured above, you must remove a stone wall blocking the path.

From your current location at the edge of the mountain, turn right, and you’ll see a glowing spot on the rock wall. Plant a spear in it by pressing L2+R1.

Now without detonating the spear, head east, jump to the area below, then move north to get on the other side of the wall. On it, you’ll see two additional glowing spots. Plant two spears into them, then press the triangle button to detonate all three of them.

After removing the stone wall, head to the small secluded area and approach the other half of the scroll. Now Runa appears before you, and she’ll continue the story.

After completing the God Of War Ragnarok Casualty of War: The Scroll Quest and flooding the plains, you can start the Casualty of War: The Brooch by talking to Holger.

Alternatively, you can check our GoW Ragnarok Wiki Hub if you wish to complete all Favors or find all collectibles in the game.
