Faded Old Painting is a quest item required to complete the Diablo 4 Better Days quest in the first region of the latest video game published by Blizzard Entertainment.
Diablo 4 Faded Old Painting is relatively easy to find; however, there is a slight chance for the quest item not to drop, even if you explore the required area.
To help you find it faster, our Diablo 4 Better Days walkthrough below explains where to find the Faded Old Painting and what to do with it so you can complete one of the 35 Fractured Peaks quests.
How To Start the Better Days Quest in Diablo 4
To start the Better Days side-quest, you must find the D4 Faded Old Painting item, which drops from searchable corpses.
However, before going after this item, it is recommended to complete the Legacies of Light’s Watch side quest in Margrave.
After you turn in Legacies of Light’s Watch, consider starting the Bound by Blood quest, also available in Margrave.
During the latter quest, you must explore the area east of Margrave, looking for Lacthan’s brother.
The area you see marked above is known as Western Tunnels, and at the location on our map, you should find a corpse on the ground.
By interacting with it, you have a chance to obtain the Faded Old Painting; but keep in mind that it is not a guaranteed drop.
This means that if you don’t find it at the location on our map, you must keep exploring the tunnels east of Margrave, looking for more corpses on the ground.
Remember that this quest item can’t be found in crates and won’t drop from mobs or the bandits you get to kill inside the tunnels.
How To Use the Diablo 4 Faded Old Painting
After you find the Faded Old Painting, it’s time to bring it to its rightful owner—specifically, Zalan Coste, the injured NPC in Margrave.
Fast travel to Margrave, and you’ll find him by some stairs north of the central pyre.
Ask Zalan Coste about the painting, and he’ll tell you it’s from his mother’s time and depicts Margrave’s past.
He also asks you to bring him any similar items you find during your journey. One of these items is the Merchant’s Ledger and the Carved Wooden Knight.
The last item, however, is a bit trickier because it starts one of the two hidden Fractured Peaks side-quests, so make sure you check our Diablo 4 Wiki Hub if you need help with it.
