God Of War Ragnarok The Burning Skies is the second Favor you’ll start while visiting The Sinkholes in the Vanahaeim Crater while working on another Side Quest named Quaking Hollow.
While in Quaking Hollow, you must find the source of the tremors in The Sinkholes, which happens to be a dragon; in The Burning Skies Favour, the second dragon attacks you directly upon reaching The Sinkholes Celestial Altar and the Mystic Gateway nearby.
The GoW Ragnarok Burning Skies Side Quest is focused on finding a way to get to the dragon’s lair.
As usual, you’ll need to follow a specific path, and in the following God Of War Ragnarok The Burning Skies walkthrough, we’ll guide you all the way to the Ash Tyrant.
How To Start The Burning Skies In The Vanaheim Sinkholes
The Burning Skies Quest in God Of War Ragnarok becomes available after you arrive in The Crater area at the end of the Scent of Survival Side Quest.
If you visit the southeastern area of The Crater, you’ll enter The Sinkholes; however, it is best to approach this Favour after you complete For Vanaheim and after you flood The Crater (including the Sinkholes) by finishing the Return of the River Favour explained here.
After all canyons are filled with water from the Eastern Plains Mystic Gateway, take the path southeast on your map, and you’ll start the Quaking Hollow Favor we covered here.
While playing it, you’ll eventually get to The Sinkholes Celestial Altar, where you get ambushed by another dragon.
When this event occurs, focus on the Quaking Hollow quest first because you’ll get close to The Sinkholes Mystic Gateway, which is also the starting point of our walkthrough.

How To Find A Way To The Dragon’s Lair
To find a way to the Dragon’s Lair in God Of War Ragnarok The Burning Skies from The Sinkholes Celestial Altar, head northeast and pull the chain to open the massive iron gate pictured below.

Now get back to your boat, and go through the passage you just unlocked, following the tunnel ahead.
When you exit the tunnel, you’ll see a larger lake, and here you’ll want to dock the boat on the beach. There is another Boat Dock on the right side, so make sure you dock on the beach.

Next, open the iron gate on the right side and deal with the Draugr in the ruins first.
On the right side of the tunnel, you should be able to spot a wall made of stones, which you can destroy using Kratos’s Spear.
To do this, you must plant three spears in the glowing cracks on the wall (pictured below), then detonate all three of them simultaneously by pressing the triangle button on your PlayStation 4/5 controller.

Be advised, though, because the dragon will attack you from time to time, and you must take cover inside the alcoves on the left side of the tunnel.
After you destroy the wall, follow the tunnel behind it, take a left turn, and keep pushing forward. The path is linear, and you’ll eventually reach a dead end in a dark area.
To progress, climb the wall on the right side (pictured below).

When you reach the upper ledge, take cover behind the wall on the left side to avoid the dragons’ fire breath.
From here, you should be able to spot another wall you can destroy by detonating your spear. It’s on the right side, as you can see below.

By destroying the wall, you’ll block the dragon’s future attacks and unlock a new path. So, climb the wall with the white painting (pictured above) and head left, jumping over the gap.
Keep moving up, and you’ll reach the top of the hill, where you should be able to spot one of the 35 Nornir Chests in the video game or one of The Sinkholes Collectibles we’ve covered here.
Cross the large area moving towards the round arena in the distance, then climb the wall on the left side (also pictured).

Upon reaching the top, jump on the right side and get ready to face the Ash Tyrant.
The fight against the Ash Tyrant depends on the difficulty level you have set for the game, your skills, and the gear level.
If it’s too hard, consider lowering the difficulty level and increasing the level of your gear by finding more Legendary Chests (see our locations guide here) or by completing other side-quests, all of them being covered as part of our GoW Ragnarok Wiki.
Once the Ash Tyrant is defeated, the God Of War Ragnarok Burning Skies quest is complete.
