God of War Ragnarok Forgotten Tower Treasure Map is one of the items found inside The Elven Sanctum or the old Elven Library in The Forbidden Sands area of Alheim Realm.
Because the God of War Ragnarok Forgotten Tower Map counts as one of The Forbidden Sands collectibles (covered in-depth here) and because the Buried Treasure is also one of the objectives that will help you reach 100% completion in the desert area west of The Barrens, it is mandatory to find both of them.
The Elven Sanctum, or the building where you’ll find the map, however, requires you to start a Favour which comes with several requirements.
To help with it, throughout the following guide, we’ll go over the Forgotten Tower Treasure in GoW Ragnarok and tell you everything you need to know about it.
So, let’s start with the location of the Forgotten Tower Treasure Map in the latest God of War Ragnarok video game.
Where To Find The Forgotten Tower Treasure Map
To get the Forgotten Tower Treasure Map in GoW Ragnarok, you’ll need to get inside The Elven Sanctum, which is found in The Forbidden Sands area, northwest of The Barrens.
But, The Forbidden Sands is found behind a large gate you won’t be able to open until later in the game after you complete the 6th Main Quest named The Reckoning.
So, you’ll want to progress Kratos’s story and finish The Reckoning. At the end of the quest, you’ll automatically return to Freyr’s Camp, and you’ll be able to start a Favor named The Elven Sanctum.
This Favor comes from Beyla and Byggvir, the two elves in Freyr’s Camp. After you trigger the Elven Sanctum Side Quest, return to Alfheim via the Canyons Mystic Gateway, then head northeast toward The Barrens.
If you face the sandstorm, make sure you focus on the Secret of the Sands Favor first, then head northwest to find a rather large gate.
You can open the gate using your companion and the chisel on the left side.
Behind the gate sits another passage named The Hjarta. Cross it moving northwest, and you’ll enter The Forbidden Sands.
If this is your first visit, it is best to deal with the Song of the Sands Favor first so that you can remove the sandstorm; otherwise, it is almost impossible to find the treasure.
After you free the Hafgufa, you should head northwest toward the large building on your map. You should see it north of The Hjarta passage.
As you approach, start tracking The Elven Sanctum Favor and get inside. While exploring the large library, loot everything, and you’ll find the Forgotten Tower Treasure map in the second room on the upper floor.
As you can see below, the Treasure Map is on the right side of the Legendary Chest, on a shelf full of manuscripts.

After you pick it up and start the Treasure Hunt, open the game’s menu and navigate to the Golas tab, then to Treasure Maps to read the following:
There are those who built this tower who gave everything they had to complete it. And where did it put them? In the ground. I was almost one of them. Never again. I leave this treasure in the hopes that whoever needs it may find it, and in so doing, is reminded of their own worth. No tower, no matter how great is worth one’s life.
Forgotten Tower Treasure Map Riddle – God of War Ragnarok
Next to the riddle above, you can also see a picture depicting a tower. But where is it?
God of War Ragnarok Forgotten Tower Buried Treasure Location
The God of War Ragnarok Forgotten Tower Buried Treasure is found on the northern side of The Forbidden Sands.
Specifically, you’ll need to exit the Elven Sanctum and head west. On your map, you’ll see a large statue holding a sword. This statue depicts Freyr, and if you get close, you’ll start Freyr’s Gift Favor.
From the statue, stay close to the northern mountain wall and move east to spot a balcony area with a large door.
Look for a pillar nearby, then use the grappling point on it to smash through the stone slab and get to the large area in front of the door. If you wonder, this door opens when you complete The Desert Door Favour.
While facing the door, on the left side, you’ll see the God of War Ragnarok Forgotten Tower Treasure.

And that’s it! You’ve completed the Forgotten Tower God of War Ragnarok Treasure Hunt, so feel free to explore the area and check our Wiki Hub page here for guides on all collectibles, Treasure Maps, and Favours in the game.
