Spirit Of Rebellion is a God Of War Ragnarok Favour or Side Quest that introduces a new area in Svartalfheim, provided you know where to find Durlin’s Hammer featured in the video game developed by Santa Monica Studio for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.

God Of War Ragnarok Spirit Of Rebellion Side Quest becomes available after you complete Forging Destiny or the 10th Main Mission in the game and unlock the Draupnir Spear.

Even though you can attend the Spirit Of Rebellion Favor after you complete the main story, this quest is best approached immediately after Forging Destiny, and it counts as one of the 47 Favors available in God of War Ragnarok.

To complete it, you’ll have to find a hammer for Durlin, and in case you need help, in the following God Of War Ragnarok Spirit Of Rebellion walkthrough, we’ll tell you everything you need to know about it.

How To Start Spirit Of Rebellion Favour In Svartalfheim

To start Spirit Of Rebellion in GoW Ragnarok, you’ll have to progress the story and play Forging Destiny Main Quest.

At the end of the said quest, Kratos is visited by Odin and Durlin. Without spoiling the story, after Odin leaves, you’ll have to descend The Forge (make sure you check our Forge collectibles guide here to clear the mountain near Nidavellir).

Upon reaching Nidavellir Beach, you’ll come across the first Berserker Gravestone, and if you interact with it, you’ll be able to start the Fit For A King Favor.

Now, behind the Berserker Gravestone, you’ll find the Nidavellir Beach Mystic Gateway, and close to it, you’ll see Durlin below.

You can talk to him at this point, and you’ll begin Spirit Of Rebellion Favor; however, if you ignore Durlin, you should know that he relocates to the Tavern in Nidavellir. The said Tavern is also the building where you’ll finish the quest, as you are about to see below.

After talking to Durlin, he’ll tell you that he wants you to retrieve a hammer for him. Even though it’s not a weapon to fight the Aesir, the hammer symbolizes the rebellion. As you probably figured out, the Dwarves have been enslaved by Odin and the Aesir.

So, the only objective for the Spirit Of Rebellion God of War Ragnarok Favor is to find Durlin’s Hammer.

Where To Find The God Of War Ragnarok Spirit Of Rebellion Hammer

To get the hammer, you’ll need to visit the Dragon Beach area just north of Nidavellir.

So, from where you meet Durlin, use the gold chain to descend the beach, then take the boat at Nidavellir Beach Boat Dock.

Head northeast and look for a rather large beach south of Radvinn’s Rig.

Dock your boat and head to the beach. It’s worth knowing that there are 4 Dragon Beach collectibles already covered that you don’t want to miss in this area.

Next, get ready for a fight because you’ll be attacked by several enemies, including Tatzelwurms.

After dealing with them while on the beach, on the left side, you’ll see a wooden platform (beneath it is the Ormr we discussed in this guide).

Use the gold chain to climb on top, select your Draupnir Spear and pin it to the wooden post with an airstream coming out of it.

Make sure you aim for the hole and throw the spear by pressing L2+R1.

Now hop on the spear, and you’ll find an Elder Wayfarer Spirit on the next platform. If you talk to him, you’ll start a new Favor named The Lost Treasure. Refer to our Lost Treasure walkthrough to complete it.

Next, climb the platform on the left side, then swing over the gap to reach the next area.

Take a left turn and follow the bridge ahead until you see a Runic Slate on the left side (pictured below).

Approach the slate and interact with it. For this puzzle, you’ll need to engrave a rune on the slate by following the prompts on the screen.

Basically, you’ll draw a reversed 1 on the slate that looks like this .

By drawing this part of the rune, Freya can read the engraving on the boulder ahead, thus moving it.

Now, all you need to do is head toward the red chest and loot it. Inside you’ll find Durlin’s rebellion hammer.

Upon retrieving Durlin’s hammer from the chest above, you can opt to continue your exploration or just return to the quest giver.

If you decide to bring the Hammer to Durlin, keep in mind that you must go back to the dwarf city known as Nidavellir because Durlin is inside the Tavern.

As such, you’ll need to row your boat through the canyon west of the Nidavellir West Boat Dock.

Finally, talk to Durlin, and for completing the God Of War Ragnarok Spirit Of Rebellion, you’ll receive 3000 XP for Kratos, 750 XP for Freya, 30 Whispering Slab, and the Mountain Splitter.

The Rebel Leader Trophy should also unlock at this point. Now that you are done with this Favor check our God Of War Ragnarok Wiki for all collectibles locations and other walkthroughs.
