Updated November 28, 2022

God of War Ragnarok Oarsmen is a small region found in the Midgard realm, hidden between the crests of the Fjöturlund, the birthplace of formerly the Valkyrie Queen, Sigrún.

Even though the GoW Ragnarok Oarsmen region is relatively small, it features six collectibles and a quest item, listed below as follows:

  • 1 Nornir Chest
  • 1 Legendary Chest
  • 2 Artifacts
  • 1 Lore
  • 1 Odin’s Raven
  • 1 Fjortlund Vault Key Half

To reach The Oarsmen region, go to the northern part of the Lake of Nines covered here, and look for a wooden beam that you can jump over to reach the Shores of Nine region (covered in-depth here).

Then, lift the rock ahead and follow the path until you see some wreckage. To the right of the wreckage, burn the vines with your Blades of Chaos by pressing (L2) + (R2) and jump over the gap to discover The Oarsmen region.

Also, when you visit The Oarsmen region for the first time, you’ll start the Sigrun’s Curse Favour we’ve covered in-depth here.

Since you know how to reach the God of War Ragnarok Oarsmen region, let’s see where are all the collectibles and how to get them.

Odin’s Raven: Behind The Prow Of A Viking Ship Statue

Go down the stairs and clear out the enemies in the room with the Mystic Gateway. There will be a Nornir Chest, but we will come back for it later.

Instead, climb the wall behind the Nornir Chest, defeat the enemies in the following area and climb the golden chain on the right side.

From up here, look to the left to spot God of War Ragnarok Oarsmen Odin’s Raven perched on a cliff behind the prow of a Viking ship statue.

Killing Odin’s Ravens will count toward The Eyes of Odin Favour covered here, unlocking Legendary Chests in The Raven Tree region in the Niflheim realm.

Legendary Chest (Jewel of Yggdrasil): At The Bottom Of A Staircase

Drop down on the other side and pull the big chain on the ground to unlock the rest of the area so you can grab the remaining collectibles.

After pulling the chain, go down the staircase to the right to find the GoW Ragnarok Oarsmen Legendary Chest.

Open the Legendary Chest to receive the Jewel of Yggdrasil, used to upgrade your Amulet to hold additional Enchantments.

Finding more Legendary Chests will allow you to change your playstyle and find the one it suits you, so feel free to check our Legendary Chests Locations guide here.

Artifact 1 (Ankh – Stolen Treasures Set): Under The Staircase

From the Legendary Chest, look to the right underneath the stairs to find one of the 38 God of War Ragnarok Artefacts listed here glowing purple on the ground.

Lore Marker (An Accursed Name / The Death of Helgi): To The Left Of The Legendary Chest

To the left of the Legendary Chest, you’ll find one of the 80 God of War Ragnarok Lore listed here, written with glowing blue glyphs on the stone tablet.

Fjortlund Vault Key Half (Quest Item – Sigrun’s Curse Favor): Near An Eagle Statue

Go to the left of the previous Lore to find the Fjortlund Vault Key Half as part of the Sigrun’s Curse Favour we’ve covered here.

If this is your first half, you’ll have to obtain the second one by traveling to The Deliric Outpost region we’ve covered here.

Then, with both Fjortlund Vault Key Half quest items, travel to The Lost Treasury region covered here to finish the favour.

Even though it’s not a collectible, we thought it was worth mentioning to progress the favour.

Nornir Chest: In The First Room

Before opening the gate, destroy the rubble to the right of the eagle statue with a sonic (green) arrow. This will help us hit one of the seal bells.

Now, open the gate that leads back to the first room with the GoW Ragnarok Oarsmen Nornir Chest.

To open this Nornir Chest, you’ll have to hit with your Leviathan Axe the three seal bells in quick succession, which requires good positioning and timing.

Go to the darker section of the room with a large gap around you and position yourself so that you can see all three seal bells.

The seal bell you want to hit first is to the right of The Oarsmen Mystic Gateway. To land this shot, you’ll want to aim above the bell.

After hitting the first bell, turn your camera to the right while retrieving your Leviathan Axe and hit the second bell near the gate through the gap you created earlier by clearing the rubble.

Quickly retrieve your Leviathan Axe, turn your camera again to the right, and hit the third and final bell behind you.

God Of War Ragnarok The Oarsmen Third Nornir Chest Bell Location

This is the most efficient way to hit the bells and unlock the Nornir Chest because it doesn’t require running or moving. If the seals turn back on, start over and keep trying until you hit all the bells quickly enough.

More Nornir Chests are scattered around the nine realms, so check our Nornir Chests Locations Guide here to find all of them.

Artefact 2 (The Dead Do Not Ride – Kvasir’s Poems Set): Above The Nornir Chest

After you’ve opened the previous Nornir Chest, climb back the wall behind the chest, the same wall you climbed earlier.

But this time, you’ll find the God of War Ragnarok Oarsmen Artefact on the top floor near a materials chest.

Because you interacted with the big chain earlier, it moved the floors putting the Artefact on this climbing path.
