In Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, you’ll go on a dangerous journey through the cursed citadel of Mount Qaf. Along the way, you will encounter various side quests that will offer valuable rewards to help you navigate the treacherous landscape. One such quest is The Deserter, a short but engaging mission where you have to find a lost soldier and get an important item for the escape.
To initiate The Deserter quest in PoP: The Lost Crown, you must first obtain the bow from the Hyrcanian Forest area as part of the Lost in Mount Qaf main quest. Once equipped with the bow, make your way to the first Wak Wak Tree in the Hyrcanian Forest.
From there, you should head down and to the right (east) until you reach a new room with stone arches overhead. Shoot the orange node on the left side using the bow to create a temporary mushroom platform.
This platform will help you jump onto the stone arches and slide into a cave where you’ll find a Quest Giver called Soldier. Talking to this NPC will start The Deserter quest, with the Soldier asking for help finding his brother-in-arms to escape from the cave.
Where To Find the Cannonball in the Deserter Side Quest
To successfully complete The Deserter side quest in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, you must locate a Cannonball in the Hyrcanian Forest and deliver it to the Soldier. Fortunately, the Cannonball is not far from the quest location.
After accepting the new quest, you should exit the cave, drop down, and head to the right. Then, follow the path into the next room, where a small ramp can be seen below. Descending the ramp, you will come across a body hanging from the ceiling.
Hitting the rope with a sword or bow attack will cause the body to fall, revealing the Cannonball on the floor. Once you pick it up, you must return to the Soldier and hand over the Cannonball to finish the quest.
Upon completing The Deserter side quest, you will receive a Soma Tree Petal from the Soldier. Collecting four of these petals gives you an extra health bar, which is super useful for your journey through the cursed citadel.
