Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown introduces a range of captivating side missions that add depth and a sense of exploration to the game. One of the first side quests you’ll come across is the Ancient Power Unearthed. In this quest, you’ll embark on a mission to find and retrieve a particular ore for the Goddess of the Forge, Kaheva, in exchange for a powerful amulet.

To start the Ancient Power Unearthed quest, you must first reach Kaheva’s Forge in The Haven. However, the forge is initially inaccessible during your first visit. It can only be accessed after acquiring Menolias’ Bow and the Chakram during the main story.

Once you unlock the bow and the Chakram, head back to The Haven and search for a golden glow near The Mage vendor. This glow will transform into a doorway leading to Kaheva’s Forge.

Upon entering the forge, engage in a conversation with Kaheva. After the initial chat, interact with her again and select the dialogue option for the “Ancient Power Unearthed” quest. Kaheva will then mark the location of the particular ore on your map, and your quest officially begins.

How To Complete the Ancient Power Unearthed Side Quest

Before you set off on this mission, I would highly recommend taking down Jahandar and obtaining the “Rush of the Simurgh” ability beforehand. This Time Power allows you to perform a swift mid-air dash, which will be highly beneficial throughout the quest.

The location marked on your map for the particular ore is on the west side of the Lower City, a couple of rooms before the first Wak Wak Tree. Make your way to this area, and you’ll come across an underground corridor with an elevator platform and a wheel inside a cage. This is where the real challenge begins.

  1. Activate the elevator platform. Use your Chakram (hold - GameClubz/- GameClubz) to aim at the wheel and activate the elevator. The platform will descend, allowing you to proceed.
  2. Crossing the spike pit: Once you reach the spike pit, recall your Chakram by pressing - GameClubz/- GameClubz again. Step on the platform, and use your Chakram on the white gear to make the platform move. As you approach the spinning spikes, jump high and quickly perform the “Rush of the Simurgh” forward. While you’re in the air, swiftly recall your Chakram so you can safely land on the second platform. From there, perform another rush to land on the other side.
  3. Wall jump to reach higher ground. After you pass the spike pit, you’ll reach a wall climbing section. Use your Chakram to activate the white gear. While hanging on the wall on the right, retrieve your Chakram to cover the spikes and safely climb to the top. It requires a bit of timing, but you’ll get the hang of it.

How To Obtain the Raw Ore

Once you reach the top, you’ll discover a room containing a treasure chest. However, opening the chest sets off a sequence of rotating traps you must skillfully avoid to obtain the Raw Ore. If you mess up, you’ll have to start over.

The first spinning trap will come from the right side of the room. Jump up and do a “Rush of the Simurgh” to the right to dodge it.

In the next section, there will be a spinning trap on the bottom and another on the top, each one coming from opposite directions. Stay closer to the left side of the room, then jump up and perform a “Rush of the Simurgh” over the bottom spinning trap and towards the left side of the room.

Jump over the first trap to avoid getting hit.

As the difficulty ramps up, you’ll encounter spinning traps on both the top and bottom from the room’s right side. Wall-jump on the left wall and do a “Rush of the Simurgh” towards the right side to make sure you don’t accidentally drop on them.

In the following sequence, three spinning traps will appear on the bottom, coming from the left side of the room. Stay closer to the center of the room and time your jumps carefully to avoid them.

Jump over all three consecutive spinning traps.

A rotating spinning trap will appear next from the left side of the room. Wait until it goes upwards and quickly slide underneath it towards the left.

The final challenge involves two regular spinning traps on the bottom and one rotating spinning trap on top. While standing near the center of the room, do a “Rush of the Simurgh” towards the left as the traps try to squish you. When the bottom trap returns, simply jump over it by holding - GameClubz/- GameClubz.

Once you have navigated through all the traps, you will find that the treasure chest has reappeared. Open it and claim the precious Raw Ore that lies within.

With the Raw Ore in your inventory, make your way back to Kaheva’s Forge to complete the Ancient Power Unearthed quest in PoP: The Lost Crown. As a reward for your efforts, you will receive the Shield of Mithra amulet.

The Shield of Mithra is a powerful three-slot amulet that allows you to create a time bubble upon successful parry. The time bubble slows down enemies within its range, which can be very helpful in combat.
