Grasslands Guides:

Updated March 2, 2024

While exploring the area northeast of Bill’s Ranch in FFVII Rebirth, you’ll get the chance to play another combat challenge known as Voracious and Venomous. This Challenge allows you to gather more intel on one of the Grasslands Fiends – specifically the Venorat.

Voracious and Venomous or Grasslands Fiend Intel 1 Challenge comes with three objectives you must complete:

  • Pressure an enemy.
  • Stagger and enemy.
  • Avoid being poisoned.

Here is how to finish this Challenge for Chadley.

Where To Find the Fiend Intel 1 in Grasslands

As you can see on the map below, the Grasslands Fiend Intel 1 in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is found on the northern coast of Grasslands, northeast of Bill’s Ranch and Expedition Intel 1: Craghshade Lifespring.

If you can’t see it on your map, consider activating Bill’s Ranch Tower. Last but not least, make sure you tame Piko to get there faster.

When you approach the coastline, you’ll spot a ruined building. Inside are the Venorats you have to defeat for this Challenge.

How to Pressure an Enemy

To pressure a Venorat, you need to know the beast’s weakness, which happens to be Ice-based attacks and spells. You can discover this by equipping the Assess Materia and casting Assess on one of the Venorats.

Thus, to complete the first objective, the moment you start the combat, cast Blizzard on one of the targets. This will also help you complete the second objective.

To pressure the enemy cast Ice Spells such as Blizzard

How to Stagger an Enemy

Staggering a Venorat is the second objective of this Challenge and works hand-in-hand with the previous one because once you pressure a target, it’s easier to stagger it. This means that the moment you cast an ice spell on one of the Venorats, you’ll have to keep attacking it without switching targets.

Pay close attention to the creature’s orange bar under the health bar. When it fills, the target is staggered.

To stagger the Venorat attack it after you pressure it.

How To Avoid Being Poisoned

The third FFVII Rebirth Fiend Intel 1 objective is also the trickiest because, to complete it, you’ll need to avoid being poisoned. The good news is that this applies only to the playing character. Or simply put, if Cloud is your leader, you don’t have to worry if Tifa, for example, gets poisoned.

However, to complete this objective, you may need to replay the whole Challenge several times. The Venorats have two attacks that can poison you:

  • A rush attack you can avoid by evading.
  • An area attack you can avoid by maintaining a safe distance.
To avoid being poisoned, evade the rush attacks.

The easiest way to complete the third objective is to be aggressive, focusing on one target at a time. While dealing with one of the Venorats, make sure you keep an eye on the second one and evade its attacks. Constantly cast Blizzard and try to defeat them as fast as possible so that you don’t allow them to attack you.
