One of the most exciting Combat Assignments in the Grasslands region of FFVII is Fiend Intel 3, also known as Keepers of the Burrow. This Combat Challenge has three objectives you must complete while fighting the squirrel-like creatures known as Mi. These objectives require you to:
- Pressure both fire and ice-imbued enemies.
- Stagger an enemy.
- Defeat all enemies within the time limit.
In this Final Fantasy VII Rebirth guide, I’ll tell you everything you need to know about this Grasslands Challenge.
Where To Find the FFVII Rebirth Fiend Intel 3 in Grasslands
To play the Keepers of the Burrow, you must reach the swamp area, which can only be done after you unlock the first Chocobo. That’s because Piko can swim; however, after you complete Chapter 2, Cloud can also swim. Regardless of when you decide to tackle this Fiend Intel Challenge, make sure you head to the location I have marked on the map below.
As you can notice, Fiend Intel 3 in Grasslands is found north of Divine Intel 2, Expedition 3, and Mistveil Reservoir Cache.
Because of the first objective you must clear in this Challenge, I also recommend resting at the eastern Chocobo Stop. Now, mount Piko and cross the swamp. As you get close, you’ll spot a pack of Mi enemies.
How to Pressure Both Fire and Ice-Imbued Enemies
The first objective of the Keepers of the Burrow Fiend Intel 3 Challenge requires you to pressure both fire and ice-imbued enemies. To accomplish this, you must pay close attention to your targets because they have different weaknesses.
What’s even more interesting is that they change their type. Or, simply put, they can switch between Fire and Ice. So, it goes without saying that what you want to do is focus on a creature’s strength before attacking it with a spell.
If a Mi is fire-imbued, you should notice some lava around it. So, cast an Ice Spell; however, if the Mi is surrounded by ice, it means it’s ice-imbued, and you’ll want to cast a Fire Spell. Also, pay close attention to their attacks to determine which Spell you should use. Volcanic Blast means the Mi is fire-imbued, so cast an Ice Spell.
On the other hand, Glacial Blast means that the Mi is ice-imbued, and you’ll want to cast a Fire Spell to pressure your target. You should also know that you must pressure both ice and fire-imbued enemies in a single fight; otherwise, you’ll fail this objective.
How To Stagger a Mi
After learning how to pressure an enemy properly, staggering becomes a lot easier, and all you need to do is keep attacking the target you pressured. Since these mobs are relatively weak, consider using Cloud’s attacks in Operator Mode, otherwise you risk killing your target before being able to stagger it.
Alternatively, you can switch to a supporting character who doesn’t deal too much damage or retry the Challenge after you finish the first objective. However, this objective will most likely be completed as you work on the first one.
How to Defeat All Enemies Within the Time Limit
The third Grassland Fiend Intel 3 objective is the most accessible, especially if you know how to pressure the enemies using the correct Spells. Furthermore, as outlined, a Mi is fairly weak, even without using any Spells. If you struggle to finish the Challenge before the time runs out, cast Fire and Ice Spells on your targets, then finish them off.
