Rusu Mountain Cursed Chest also counts as a Kena Bridge Of Spirits collectible you’ll have to find in the second area of the video game developed by Ember Lab. Unlike other collectibles on this mountain, however, this one comes with a little challenge you’ll have to complete. Otherwise, the chest won’t open.
So below, we’ll discuss the Rusu Mountain Cursed Chest collectible, where to find it, how to complete the challenge, and obviously, what’s inside the chest. Before we start, though, remember that on Rusu Mountain, along with the Cursed Chest, you’ll also need to find other collectibles.
- 13 Rot
- 6 Rot Hats
- 1 Spirit Mail
- 3 Flower Shrines
The Cursed Chest on Rusu Mountain is found at the location marked on my map below, which is an area where you’ll find a broken wooden bridge. This bridge is found while following the story as you head toward Rusu’s House.
To cross the wooden bridge on Rusu Mountain, you’ll need to use Kena’s Rot to pull the bridge, but before doing that, you can actually find the Cursed Chest.
What you need to know, though, is that because of the challenge that requires you to kill some enemies without being hit, this chest is best approached after you get the Bow.
So find Rusu to get the Bow, then retrace your steps back to the broken bridge, and while facing it, turn right to spot the painted ledges in my screenshot.
As you climb these ledges, you’ll find a clearing and, on the other side, the Cursed Chest.
How To Complete the Rusu Mountain Cursed Chest Challenge
When you open the chest, you’ll automatically trigger a challenge, and four enemies will spawn. To finish this challenge, you’ll need to defeat all enemies without being hit. This is where your Bow plays an important role because if you unlock it before this challenge, you can shoot all enemies from a distance.
Simply move around when they get close and keep firing your arrows. Obviously, you can also complete this challenge using Kena’s Staff, but her Bow is the recommended weapon for this chest. Also, you may want to use charged arrows for extra damage and always aim for the head.
Once you defeat all enemies, approach the chest and open it to find the Bird’s Nest Rot Hat, which is one of the 6 Rusu Mountain Rot Hats you can collect in this area. This is the Rusu Mountain Cursed Chest collectible you’ll need to find if you aim for the Platinum Trophy, but in Forgotten Forest, you’ll need to find two.
