The Sword is your primary weapon in Tunic, which you’ll need to fight all the enemies you encounter and believe me, there will be plenty of them. Of course, there will be other weapons you’ll find along the way that will help you beat the game, but the Sword doesn’t require energy, so you get to use it as often as you want.
The problem is that you’ll have to fight many enemies before getting the weapon, and you are probably wondering how that will go, considering you are a tiny fox. Don’t worry! Almost immediately after starting the game, you’ll get your hands on a Stick, which serves as a weapon. It won’t do much damage, but it will get the job done until you find the Sword.
How To Get the Stick in Tunic
Start the game and make your way north until you reach the first crossroad. You should see a mailbox on the left with a doorway near it, and if you enter the room, you’ll find a golden chest containing the Stick.
Just in case you get too far and miss the room, check the following map of the Overworld (the area you are in), where I’ve pinpointed the exact location you need to visit.
Now, don’t get too attached to the Stick because it won’t get you too far in Tunic, so focus on finding the Sword next.
Where To Find the Sword
The Sword in Tunic is in the East Forest, but to get there, you’ll first need to find a key that opens a door blocking your progression. On the following map, I’ve marked the following locations:
- 1 – Key
- 2 – Locked Door
- 3 – East Forest Entrance
So after you get the Stick, head north until you reach a Fox Shrine and go down the stairs on the left. Cross the bridge to find the key in question, then return to the mailbox in front of the room from where you got the Stick.
Now, go up the first pair of stairs to the north and turn right, where you can see the locked door. Open it with the help of the key and enter the room just to exit on the other side. Go up the ladder to the left and then continue going up. You’ll soon reach a crossroad with a small bridge above a waterfall on the left and the way to the East Forest on the right.
You can also see a sign that indicates the way to the East Forest if you read it. There are more of these signs throughout Tunic, so keep your eyes open. As you can see, you can’t get lost because the game is quite linear so far.
After arriving in the East Forest, you’ll have to look for Hero’s Grave because there you’ll find the Sword. So fight your way through with your Stick and read the signs along the way that will lead you to the Hero’s Grave.
When you finally reach your destination, you’ll see a gate blocking your way. Get close to the gate and go left through the tiny space marked below. Then, make your way to the big lever on the right to open the gate, as shown in the following screenshot.
Your way to the Sword is clear now, so go and grab it.
It would be good to point that here’s a second sword (in the secret door beheath the Garden Knight)
