In Alan Wake 2, the Downtown Nursery Rhyme puzzle is one of the seven nursery rhymes that you can find and solve in the Watery region. Once you’ve obtained the screwdriver from Coffee World during the Return 3: Local Girl chapter, you’ll be able to access this rhyme location.
Simply make your way back to Downtown Watery with the screwdriver, and then use it on the locked trailer located in the northeast corner of the area. Inside, you’ll discover a small room to the left where you’ll find this Nursery Rhyme.
How To Solve the Watery Downtown Nursery Rhyme Puzzle
When you take a closer look at the rhyme scene, you’ll find a sheet of paper right in the middle. On that sheet, you’ll discover a riddle that goes like this:
“There once was a faithful
Girl
At home she stayed and
there she prayed
For her Lover to return
But he collected fair
maidens just as he did
Their stolen riches and
broken hearts.”
For this rhyme puzzle, you’ll need the Maiden and Trickster Dolls. The Maiden Doll can be found near the Ranger Cabin Nursery Rhyme on the dresser in the bedroom upstairs. However, the Trickster Doll can be found in two distinct locations: either near the Lighthouse Nursery Rhyme on the steps or the Trailer Park Nursery Rhyme, specifically by the sink inside the Fish Clean workshed.
In order to solve the Downtown Nursery Rhyme puzzle, place the Maiden Doll on the house symbol to represent the “Faithful girl at home“. Then, take the Trickster Doll and put it on the jewelry symbol, which describes his “stolen riches“.
After the dark visual flickering, follow the black trail outside. It will lead you to the mailbox, which is now open. Inside the mailbox, you’ll find the Coffee Mug Charm. When equipped, it saves you from dying when your health is depleted, but it breaks immediately after.
Since you’re in Downtown Watery already, why don’t you visit the southeast dock to find the Downtown Cult Stash? It’s got a fascinating math puzzle just waiting for you to unravel. So why not give it a shot?
