Once you have successfully defeated the Nightingale in Cauldron Lake during the thrilling Return 2: The Heart chapter of Alan Wake 2, you will be able to explore the previously flooded area.
As you make your way across the Streamside bridge located in the northwest section of Cauldron Lake, you will stumble upon a few captivating puzzles referred to as Nursery Rhymes. One of these puzzles can be discovered in the Witchfinder’s Station area.
Where To Find The Witchfinder’s Station Nursery Rhyme in Cauldron Lake
You can find this Nursery Rhyme at the entrance of the cabin in the Witchfinder’s Station, in the northwestern corner of the Cauldron Lake. I’ve pinpointed the puzzle’s location on the map below.
How To Solve The Witchfinder’s Station Nursery Rhyme Puzzle in Alan Wake 2
When you interact with the Nursery Rhyme on the ground, you’ll notice five distinct symbols carefully sketched with chalk. Moreover, there is a sheet of paper that contains a clue for you to unravel. Allow me to share its contents with you:
“The Hero brave and strong
left home to right a wrong
From the woods came the
Wolf so greedy and hungry
That he ate what he found in
the house without a host
The Hero returned to find
she’d lost the thing she
loved most.”
This poem shares the story of a brave and strong hero who failed to protect his loved ones from the clutches of a greedy and hungry wolf. To solve this riddle, head inside the nearby cabin, climb up the stairs, and make your way to the room on the right. There, you’ll find the Hero Doll on the floor while the Wolf Doll is on top of a box nearby.
After you pick up both dolls, let’s head back outside to tackle the puzzle. All you need to do is place the Hero Doll on the boat symbol and the Wolf Doll on the tree symbol. After placing both dolls on the correct symbols, the screen will flash and Saga will mention that she has a weird feeling something’s changed. You’ll also notice a black trail of paws on the ground leading back into the cabin.
Follow the trail leading to the upper floor and enter the room on the right. Once inside, if you take a look at the playpen, you’ll discover the Coffee Mug Charm on the ground. When equipped in your inventory, this charm saves you from death but shatters in the process.
Also, don’t forget to grab the dolls! You’ll need them for upcoming puzzles like the Private Cabin Nursery Rhyme or the Rental Cabins Nursery Rhyme.
