Alan Wake 2 Cauldron Lake Rental Cabins Nursery Rhyme Puzzle Solution

In Alan Wake 2, after completing the Return 5: Old Gods chapter, you’ll obtain a tool called the Boltcutters that will allow you to open all locked gates you come across in all three regions. One such locked gate is located at the entrance to the Rental Cabins in Cauldron Lake, which can only be unlocked using the Boltcutters.

Where To Find the Rental Cabins Nursery Rhyme in Cauldron Lake

The Nursery Rhyme can be found inside Cabin 4 in the Rental Cabins area of Cauldron Lake. To reach it, first enter Cabin 3, then head through the back door and turn left. Next, crouch under the fallen tree branch and go through the last backdoor on your left to enter Cabin 5. After that, exit through the front door and turn left towards Cabin 4. Once inside the cabin, you’ll find the Nursery Rhyme in the entryway.

How To Solve the Rental Cabins Nursery Rhyme Puzzle

When you read the note in the middle of the rhyme scene, you will discover a riddle that goes as follows:

“Our Hero courageous and
true
Stalked by the Monster
hatching through
The clever Crows caw their
warning
And keep an eye on the
battle forming
When the fight is done and
over
The Hero and the Crows
Reap the rewards left for
her.“

In order to solve this Nursery Rhyme, you’ll need to use three different dolls: the Hero Doll, the Crow Doll, and the Monster Doll. You can find the Hero Doll near the Witchfinder’s Station Nursery Rhyme on the upper floor of the cabin. You may already have the Crow Doll from the Picnic Area Nursery Rhyme, one of the earliest rhymes in the game. Finally, for the Monster Doll, you need to go to the Watery and search on the dresser upstairs near the Watery Ranger Cabin Nursery Rhyme.

Once you have all of them, you must place the Monster Doll on the baby chick symbol, which represents “the Monster hatching through“. Similarly, you should place the Crow Doll on the eye symbol, representing the “clever Crows […] keep an eye on the battle forming“. Lastly, you need to put the Hero Doll on the jewelry symbol, which stands for “The Hero […] reap the rewards“.

After the dark visual flickering on your screen, head over to Cabin 6 across from Cabin 4. Inside, you’ll encounter a massive Taken who will try to attack you. Defeat him and enter the cabin. On the top of the drawer and next to the TV, you’ll find the Coffee Mug Charm, which saves you from dying when your health is depleted, but it breaks immediately after.
