In the immersive universe of Palworld, players are accompanied by creatures known as Pals, each possessing a distinct array of abilities. These abilities are essential in performing tasks ranging from domestic chores to combat. But what if these Pals could learn new skills to fit your playstyle? This comprehensive guide will help you teach Pals new skills to make them more effective and versatile in your adventures.
Pals Skill Types in Palworld
Each Pal in Palworld comes with a special set of skills that make them unique. However, these skills are not set in stone and can be customized to improve their adaptability. These skills fall into three categories:
- Partner Skills
- Active Skills
- Passive Skills
While Passive and Partner skills are inherent traits that cannot be changed, Active Skills can be upgraded and diversified, giving your Pals a wider range of combat moves.
Active Skills are the main combat moves used by Pals during battles, and they’re influenced by the Element type of the Pal. What’s interesting is that a Pal can actually learn Active Skills of any Element type. For example, a Water element type Pal can learn Active Skills of the Fire element type. Pretty cool, right?
How to Teach Pals New Active Skills in Palworld
There are two primary methods to teach pals new active skills: Leveling Up and Skill Fruits.
Leveling Up
As you complete different tasks with your Pals, such as gathering resources, building structures, and defeating bosses, they will gain experience points. This experience leads to the Pal learning new skills. It is important to note that not every level upgrade guarantees a new skill. New skills are only gained upon reaching a certain “level milestone”.
Skill Fruits
Skill Fruits offers another way to teach your Pals new skills. Each Skill Fruit corresponds to a specific Element type, which determines the type of active skill you can teach your Pal. For example, an Ice Skill Fruit can teach your Pal the Frost Missle or Ice Blade ability, while an Earth Skill Fruit can teach them the Sand Tornado or Stone Blast ability.
Skill Fruits can be found in various ways, the most reliable of which is harvesting from Skill Fruit Trees. These trees, identifiable by their glowing blue hue, grow three Skill Fruits each and regenerate over time.
If your Pal learns more skills than can be equipped at once, you can swap out any of their Active Skills for a different one in the Pal Menu of the Party tab. This encourages teaching your Pals a diverse move set, allowing you to adapt to different combat scenarios.
