In the beautiful world of Palworld, the Pal Sphere is the most essential item, as it allows you to capture Pals and use them for various tasks. The Palworld Pal Sphere requires three types of materials: Stone, Wood, and Paldium Fragments. While the first two are common crafting materials, the Paldium Fragments require a bit of exploration and mining.

Using the Pal Sphere in Palworld can also prove difficult at first, but once you master the art of capturing Pals, things will get easier. In this guide, I’ll tell you everything you need to know about the Palworld Pal Spheres, including how to craft and use them.

How To Craft Pal Spheres in Palworld

Step 1: Build a Primitive Workbench

To craft a Palworld Sphere, first, you need a Primitive Workbench, which is the first thing you’ll build when you start the game. The only crafting material required for the Workbench is Wood. Since you don’t have any tools when you start the game, exploring is the only way to get Wood. Specifically, you’ll have to gather tree branches found on the ground.

The image shows a tree branch providing wood in Palworld.

After you get two units of Wood, it’s time to build the Primitive Workbench, following these easy steps:

  • Press Up on your Dpad and select the Production Tab.
  • Select the Primitive Workbench with the right Xbox Thumbstick.
  • Find a suitable spot to place the Workbench (make sure the item turns blue as you move around).
  • Press X to place the Workbench on the ground.
  • Approach the Workbench, then press and hold X for 10 seconds until the item is built.

It is also worth knowing that you can’t move buildings in Palworld, so you’ll want to plan ahead where you want to build your first base.

Step 2: Unlock the Palworld Pal Sphere From the Technology Screen

The next step is to unlock the Pal Sphere from the Technology Screen. For this step, you need 1 Technology Point. The Palworld Technology Points are earned by leveling up, meaning you need to perform various tasks around the world, such as gathering materials, building, or defeating Pals. Early in the game, you’ll likely have at least 1 Technology Point. Here is how to unlock the Pal Sphere:

  • Open the menu by pressing - GameClubz on your Xbox controller.
  • Navigate to the Technology Tab.
  • Select the Pal Sphere from the second row.
  • Press A to unlock it, then confirm your selection.
The Palworld Pal Sphere must be unlocked in the Technology screen.

As you can notice in the screenshot above and in the game, to craft a Pal Sphere, you need:

  • 3 Wood
  • 3 Stones
  • 1 Paldium Fragment

The Wood and Stones, as said, are common materials, but the Paldium Fragment is a bit trickier.

Step 3: Gather the Required Pal Sphere Crafting Materials

Since crafting is one of the most important features in Palworld, I recommend building all the tools available early in the game. For this, you’ll need the Primitive Workbench above and some basic materials. Here is what to do first:

  • Gather 5 Stones and 5 Wood via exploration, and craft the Stone Axe to obtain more Wood from chopping trees.
  • Gater 5 Stones from the ground and 5 Wood from the trees you chop to craft the Stone Pickaxe.
  • Finally, get 5 Wood from trees and craft the Wooden Club because you’ll need it to capture Pals.

If you wonder how to mine or cut trees in Palworld, the process is pretty simple. Press Y on your Xbox controller to switch between the tools in your inventory, then approach a tree or a large stone and mash RT to start mining or chopping the tree.

Now that you know how to get Stone and Wood, the last material you’ll need to craft the Pal Sphere is the Paldium Fragment. The Palworld Paldium Fragment is also a common material that can be obtained via exploration by picking up the small blue stones on the ground.

However, since you’ll need multiple Pal Spheres to capture Pals, you’ll also need multiple Paldium Fragments. Therefore you’ll want to use the Pickaxe and find Paldium Deposits scattered around the world.

The Paldium Fragments in Palworld can also be obtained by mining Stone Deposits, but the best source of Fragments early in the game is the Paldium Deposits.

The image shows a blue Palworld Paldium Deposit.

Luckily, to craft a Pal Sphere, you only need one Paldium Fragment, so once you get it, return to the Primitive Workbench and craft the Sphere to start capturing Pals.

How To Use the Palworld Pal Spheres To Capture Pals

Now that you have a Pal Sphere let’s put it to good use and capture a Pal. Before heading out and looking for the cute critters, remember that the Palworld Pals can be captured only after you weaken them. So, make sure you have a club, as explained above.

When capturing the first critter, look for one of the smaller Pals such as Lamballs, Chikipis, or Cattivas. Equip your club by pressing Y, then target the Pal and hit it several times by pressing RT. The idea here is to weaken the Pal but not kill it, so pay attention to the critter’s health bar.

After you lower its health bar, stop hitting the Pal, and press RB to switch to your Pal Sphere. Aim for the Pal and notice the Capture Rate displayed on your screen. The higher the Capture Rate, the better the chance to capture the Pal. If the Capture Rate is small, you’ll have to further weaken the Pal by attacking it.

To capture a Pal with the Pal Sphere you need to weaken the critter by attacking it.

Just remember to stock up on Pal Spheres because you’ll consume one Sphere every time you try to capture a Pal. If the Capture Rate is high, you’ll waste that Sphere, so try not to waste them.

As you progress through the game, you’ll encounter more powerful Pals, but you’ll also unlock better weapons and Pals to help you in battle. The Pals you capture must be well-fed and need Straw Pal Beds. Don’t worry, though, because we’ve got you covered, and we’ll share all tips and tricks as part of our Palworld Wiki.
