River Basin or the Outriders Historian – Everlasting Area features more Chests that yield Gear, Scraps, and Crafting Materials. Like Solar Panels, River Basin includes 2 Outriders Loot Chests you don’t want to miss for obvious reasons. One of them is relatively easy to find, while the second one is a bit trickier.
This area is unlocked by talking to Madame Beauvoir in your Rift Town Camp. Once you do that, you’ll need to fast-travel to the Crossroads Explorer Flag, then return to the hill where you found Audrey for the Payback side-quest.
The entrance to the Historian-Everlasting Area is on the same hill. When you get through the door, although the game tells you that you are in the Historian-Everlasting Area, you are actually in the River Basin.
Loot Chest #1
The first Outriders River Basin Loot Chest is pretty well hidden. To get it, clear the first area and neutralize all mobs. This specific section features a gap in the middle, so you’ll have to go around it (left side). As you advance, you’ll receive a new objective to clear the path.
While facing the waypoint on the right side is an ammo crate. After you restock, opposed to the said ammo crate, there is a tunnel. Get inside and turn left to spot the chest in my image below. As you can see, it’s quite dark, but the chest is highlighted.
After you get this one, retrace your steps and clear the tree branches to exit the tunnel.
Loot Chest #2
For the second Outriders Loot Chest in River Basin, you’ll have to reach the upper platform where you find the Holographic Disk for Madame Beauvoir. Practically, this chest is sitting next to the Historian Item on top of some stairs.
Obviously, you’ll have to fight your way to get it, but other than that, it’s very easy to find. In my screenshot below, you can see both the Loot Chest and Madame Beauvoir’s Historian Artifact.
